Well I must admit that ever since AH took over life is not boring.
An extremely entertaining match with both teams giving there all but with Zebs being the difference.
We are great going forward and scoring lots of goals but our defense nearly let us down.
But the attitude of the team since Christmas has turned around amazingly, we went behind twice, never panicked, kept playing good football and came out on top.
10/10 match

Earlier on in the season it was fairly obvious that Zebroski had had a long period out of playing the sport because of both fitness and ability. But now that he's back to his best, my word he was good today. He ran so far, worked very hard both on and off the ball. I'd have honestly debated to give him man of the match without his hat trick. Yeates and the rest of he attacking players were all good, but I can't see many of these defenders being first choice next season...

What a day to be stuck in the Traffic chaos trying to get ON TO the M27 at Hedge End. Combination of Saints at home and local road works meant we only managed to get 300 yards from home before the feeder roads to J7 got gridlocked. Gave up and went home.
Said to Jill "I bet that'll mean we win 5-4". Nearly right.
Looking at tonight's National League FORM TABLES we are TOP in the last 6 games and SECOND over the last 8 games. The panic of before Christmas and our slipping down towards the drop zone seems much more than 5 weeks ago.

Another thread?!
Great entertainment again. Not quite sure what Hess has done to this team, but they look very good coming forward and are very determined. Terrible defending by both teams, especially first half, but Zebroski was excellent again, as was Matthews, with decent support from most of the midfield. Yeates was out of form today, but kept trying, Wood improved after a poor first half, bit I think Togwell and Williamson still haven't quite clicked after being out for a long period. Not far off the top half of the table now - unthinkable a couple of months ago. Still won't get much higher if we don't improve our defence. Hartlepool, I thought, played really well, their passing at times was excellent, maybe a little unlucky not to get a point, but two headed goals conceded from corners in the first half doesn't help. Great support from their fans, hope they continue to have a club to cheer on. The new stand looks good, and of course the minute's silence for Derik Brooks, and the speech beforehand, were also highlights of the afternoon, with a game I am sure Derik would have enjoyed.

Ayo is the only defender who would be first choice but only for his goal scoring record.

Well 4 wins on the bounce, 8 unbeaten and everything at EFC is unrecognisable from just a short while ago, but our defence is totally shambolic, and the goals we are conceding is frankly ridiculous. Once again we started off so slowly, we didn't start to get a foothold in the game for a good 15 minutes, and against a tiring Hartlepool team, 4-2 up with not long to go and still we nearly threw it away. Now I know we will get the entertainment argument brought up again, but as I have said before, I don't give a stuff about entertainment, I won't us to defend properly. I am not sure what has happened to RF, he appears to have lost all confidence, and as soon as we have the lead, our defenders just panic; do we need a psychologist or what? WE NEED A DEFENSIVE COACH - SORT IT!. Sorry to rant in the midst of such a good run, but this defending is well beyond a joke.
On the bright side Zebroski is sensational. I would think at this moment in time he is as good as any other striker in our division, and if he keeps playing like this, he'll be gone before you know it. Enjoy him while you can.

What an enjoyable game! I no longer get stressed & despondent when we go a goal behind because we are scoring so freely at the moment. Echo other's comments re Zebroski and re the back 5 except for Ayo who I would keep. Can't help thinking, though, that if we'd had a fully fit Greener for the whole season we may have shipped less goals. Who knows? 4 wins on the trot, who'd have thought we'd do that back in early December?
Sat in the new blue stand today, superb view & cosier than the old version. Likely to do so for the rest of the season & change my ST for it for next season. Can't help thinking though, that the addition of some perspex at the far end would save any souls seated in the first few rows from getting wet on days like today. But then, it could amplify the sun's rays on sunny autumn & spring days
A few words of praise for all those guys who worked so hard on the pitch before the game. I saw Dan, Mark, Steve & Martin and apologies to any I didn't see or mention, but without the covers & you guys the game could have been at risk. I'll say it again, the pitch is now the best it's ever been.

Yes, good point about the pitch. Well done everyone. Stood up well. The best it has been for a very long time.

A really good game of football. Can't help thinking AH will be happy and tearing his hair out in equal measure.
I wonder if we have any defensive additions planned over the next few days?
New stand open, crowd of over 2,000 and a really exciting win, seems like the perfect tribute to Derik Brooks.

I watched Yeates on 2nd half, He beat his men almost every time , and cut in for a lovely pass for either 3rd or4th goal (crazy so many goals) He definitely creates going forward!

Michael would love a 0-0 it makes him tick. The rest of us want goals and entertainment. Thank god we are getting loads of that. Long may it continue.,

I'd have preferred a boring 1-0 win with our defence solid. If we are to achieve anything at all this season or indeed in the future it will come with a solid, compact defence. All good teams build from the back. Our shambolic defence is being hidden behind a great run, and exciting football. Sooner or later it will be exposed. It needs addressing NOW.
