Not sure whether their loans end at start of January or the end but either way think we should be offering Howe a contract and asking Bournemouth to let us keep hold of Matthews for the season.
Think that's the most important business we can do in January.

Lincoln sold Sean Raggett to Norwich after their cup run but Norwich loaned him back to Lincoln, loan period should end today/ So if Raggett leaves then Lincoln may need Callum Howe back now

Ben Strevens Speaks about the loans at the end of his interview today.
Sam Matthews loan has ended and we are optimistic of extending it Callum Howe is available for next weeks game with Torquay and we will speak with Lincoln to try and extend the loan after that, seems a bit more possible rather than probable that one

Not surprised, but still a big blow. Well done Callum, thanks for what you've done for Eastleigh (Boycey will miss you!) and all the best back at Sincil Bank. Hope you get some regular games there. The Imps continue to do well this season. They have a good chance of the playoffs, I feel, they're not out of automatic promotion yet but will need some good signings this month to make the squad strong enough. Always possible under DC. We'll need a new captain down here as well as a replacement for our best defender this season - maybe one of the two injured players on their way back? EDIT: The Echo thinks that Cresswell might be fit soon. www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/15815849.Eastleigh_loan_defender_set_for_return_to_parent_club/

Ouch, not good especially given Boyce went off injured on Saturday, gone very quiet on the Reda/Cresswell front.
Guess Togwell will be Capt if he goes back into the team. Lets hope we are well progressed in the market to bring in a replacement quickly

If I'm honest, I'm not too disappointed.
Howe has been great for us, I'm not sure how many loan players have been made captain in the past but I think that suggests what type of person he is.
However the fact is we haven't managed to keep a clean sheet for 22 matches. Of course that's not all his fault but collectively the defending has let us down this season, no question about that. As I've said previously I don't think Howe & Boyce are a good partnership, both are ball winners and both lack pace..
I think with Cresswell on the brink of a return we have a good four centre halfs in the squad.
Any news on Reda?

That's a positive way to look at it Steve.
I'm assuming the 4 you are referring to are
Boyce (went off injured on Sat) Cresswell (not fit yet) Ayo (potential but not sure centre back is going to be his best position) Reda (MIA)
No doubt if Cressy and Reda are fit they are our strongest pair but it's a very big if!!

As I've said on here before, I mostly blame the full-backs for our lack of clean sheets.
I think Howe and Boyce are a very solid partnership, but they are not blessed with pace and can be exposed one-on-one (remember Brett Williams on Howe recently).
At no point this season have our full backs compensated for this - Hoyte has improved, but he was often leaving his man unmarked earlier in the season, which cost us (e.g. Hereford). Greener had been unfit for most of the season, even when he was playing. Wood does his best but has been missing several times recently, which has again cost us. Shaw did the same when he played. More of a problem is the back four as a unit - the full backs have not always lined up and supported those in the centre, leaving them exposed too many times.
You could also argue that the full backs are not always supported by their wide midfield colleagues - I think Beano supports his full back the best, whereas players like Yeates, good as they are going forward, aren't so good at dropping back. Centre midfield too - Hollands does well, but he can't do it all himself and seems to tire later in the game. As I've said many times before, he needs support. Maybe Togwell, now he's back, will provide that.
