There already seems to be a disconnect between what was indicated in the Echo article and what Andy Hessenthaler is saying in this interview. Perhaps he is just understating his new role but, according to the Echo, he would be in charge of player recruitment (and presumably therefore full management of the first team including long term strategy) whereas he seems in the interview to see his new job as just tactics and picking the team. I hope the reality, whatever it is, is clearer than it seems.

Not sure how the 'football side of things' doesn't include picking the team and deciding tactics, but we'll see. As you say, it doesn't seem very clear how it will work yet.
Also I'm not sure that the standard of manager interviews will be improved very much by the change, but as with all things, let's give Hess a chance! He's certainly got the experience, with some success behind him, to do well as the front man, so good luck to him. And I'm sure the fans will get behind him, for a while at least ;-)
