I'm with you there all the way Bruce. Please excuse my cynical nature. As for the club's position when he signed, they were just backing the then manager's judgement which everyone would say every club should do. If the manager's judgement turns out to be appalling then you can't blame the club for considering the best way forward. I would say that the best way forward depends on how much he is being paid and personally I would want to see a way out. As I say though, I am just an old cynic.

Whether bringing Ayo on was the right decision (it wasn’t) the point is we should not be 2-0 down to a team below us so that decision should never need to be made. I’ll talk about RH’s disgraceful interview elsewhere.

Well basically what I'm saying is a good set up backstage and underachieving set of players should make a job prospect attractive for other managers. As some people on here are saying hill is still the best person for the job and no one else would want it. In comparative terms I'm saying there must be some good managers at Eastleighs level that can turn things around, why is hill still the best person for the job? Wasn't really comparing the two clubs together just using an example of wht makes a managerial post attractive/unattractive OK. I think where I see it differently slewmcg is in how the players are perceived. You mention an "underachieving set of players" and to me that suggests players who are performing below the level of their capability. For my part I see it totally differently. Yes I do think we have several excellent players, some of which like Danny Hollands yesterday are not currently fit to play. We do however have a thin squad and that leaves few options when cover is needed. So the players you see as "underachieving" might be actually doing the best they can. Before anyone accuses me of rose tinted this or that or sticking up for the manager I though RH got his set up wrong yesterday and anyone who sits anywhere near me will know why! I also think we are lacking fluency big time and while that has to do with a weak squad and enforced changes I wouldn't argue that we might do better on the training ground. I do however honestly believe that we are a bit lucky that we have a manager who has so much expertise and experience and sees his job as "winning football matches" and is able to manage upwards as well as downwards. And if people boo his players after the match they shouldn't expect him to come and clap them.

I understand the points you make but if RH see’s his job as ‘winning football matches’ then he should expect criticism when he doesnt (especially against teams below us), his interview on Saturday was an insult to the people who paid to watch his team.
