30 year old midfielder joins from York City on a one month loan. A new thread to comment on. Getting a bit tired of the Richard Hill thread!! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Heslop

Alot of York fans on social media seem to be happy he's gone some even saying hopefully it's longer then the month. So getting a player that got relegated and with **** reviews from fans sounds promising

No real risk on a deal for a month, we need the bodies and who knows it might work out. Good to see us bringing players in over the past week, even though it is clear that we are managing the budget. January is coming and would like to see us keeping hold of Howe, Matthews and McSheffrey for the rest of the season.

Another 30 year old.....enough said!! Yeah but it's got to be done. We have so many injuries, and if there is a younger player whos good enough for this league then their team obviously won't loan them out will they? They'll use them themselves. It would need to be someone very young from a higher division and they won't bring much experience with them.

Here we go again, another 30 year old, won't change anything, probably be injured next week, surely there must be younger players out there maybe playing in lower league (Hereford), makes you ask about our scouting or is It RH not trusting youth.

Wonder if he will go straight into the side on Saturday?
We need players with all these injuries

You lot need to take a look, he's on loan for a month, why on earth is his age an issue he is only 30 😂😂 Wait to see him play you may be surprised. On other threads people are singing the praises of clubs who have changed their entire squad in the summer and in the same breath want us to develop youth. Age is just a number Messi is 30 Ronaldo 32 terrifying to some but they sound like players RH would want in his old squad 😃😃

Does it matter a bit that Messi and Ronaldo are World Class players and earn their money.....yeah it does actually!!

Earning their money is a whole new argument, many would say that no footballer (or any other occupation) could really 'earn' that much money!!
In fact I would go as far as saying that if Simon Heslop plays 3 games for us in the next month, puts in perfomances that contribute to us earning 6 points over those 3 games then he will have done more to earn his £3000/£4000 months salary then Messi or Ronaldo could ever do to earn the £500,000 plus they get a week whilst dodging taxes.
My point is that because we have a small group of players that are 35 or older, every time we sign someone with a 3 at the start of their age we lump them into that category, a 30 year old could still have a good 3 or 4 years left in him and we are only asking for a month of that at this stage.

I think the pertinent point is: What has a player that is not getting into a Connie North side that is not burning up their division going to add to a team in the division above, if he was that good they wouldnt be offloading him? Definitely not a signing that fills me with enthusiasm.

Just a journey man pro RH likes, take a risk stick a youngster in, Sam Matthews must have a mate or two from Bournemouth who could help out and give us fresh legs

I'm going to wait & see how he performs tomorrow & what difference he makes to the team before making any judgement on him as a signing. It's for 1 month. Give the guy a chance!
