chester forward on the line for the equaliser was offside, surely? Yep, and Hilly gave him the sharp end of his tongue for it. We really have had some awful officials of late.

But he wasn’t interfering with play and didn’t touch the ball.

But he wasn’t interfering with play and didn’t touch the ball. Little facts like that don’t mean anything to certain supporters. Don’t think the Lino will worry too much about ‘Hillys sharp tongue’

I know this is the modern interpretation of the offside rule, but how stupid is that. How can a bloke stood on the goaline, a foot away from the goalkeeper, as the ball enters the net not be interfering with play? Its so stupid you couldn't make it up!

I suspect you’d have happily accepted the decision if it were the other round. Football fans really are thick.

Yes of course I would have happily accepted it, in the same way I was happy to accept Tom Jordans famous punched goal against Wimbledon. Unlike many moralists who spout off on here, I just want EFC to win and I'm not too bothered how if I am honest with you. Doesn't alter the fact the current interpretation of the offside law is daft. It needs clarifying.
I'm also a little baffled as to why you think football fans are especially thick and stupid. Okay we have our fair share, but no more than anywhere else, and we also have a number of very intelligent people who support the club. As an EFC fan I am happy to have anyone on board as long as they support the club, and don't bring it into disrepute. 99% of our fans do that; so why are you keen to abuse them?

Careful what you say to him, michaelefc - he's got his own thread and set of admirers on the 'other EFC forum' ;-)
Agree about the offside law. The other problem with it is that it's not always applied consistently.

I think the not interfering with play offside rule is one of the most consistent things I see personally.

Player is in goalkeepers eyeline and in close proximity to ball and goal and is therefore interfering with play. Also in offisude position, so according to laws of game goal should not have stood
However easy to say after viewing it a few times. What’s done is done, time to move onto the next game

Yes, move on. Yet to find a result in the history of sport that’s been changed by a whingeing home fan splutttering into his pint and pork scratching after the game with his mates.

It really is a pleasure to have you back in the fold Willk. It is only a few weeks ago when you stated that you would not be renewing your season ticket next year. I offered to fund a refund of your existing season ticket, as I thought it was cruel to make you watch the dross on offer at EFC. That offer still stands by the way.
I am however delighted that you still post on here, as it would appear that you have had a change of heart and decided to support the club through thick and thin. Still I guess it is better to stay on this forum and criticize, as opposed to walk away altogether. After all where is the fun in that!

‘The offer still stands by the way’
Ok, thanks, can you make a bacs transfer of £150 to my favourite charity the royal British legion please. I’d like proof it’s been sent. You have said on a public forum you’re happy to do it after all.

Yes but only if your season ticket is returned to EFC. I too would require proof of this, and on receipt of this would make the donation to the British Legion. I don't know if £150 is the amount you would receive as a refund from the club for the remaining portion of the season. There is of course one condition, which is that you don't pay at the gate to watch EFC in future. On reflection it is probably unworkable as it would involve people at the club barring you from paying at the gate. The last thing a club would want is not to take your money, as you have done nothing wrong to warrant such action.
In the light of recent posts it would appear that you are more tolerant of the fact that the club is doing its best, namely to hold their own in this division. The expectation has been way too high in some quarters, and I for one am just grateful that we are playing in this division.
