We haven't done a bit more business. feel like we are a long way off challenging for promotion at the moment

Window doesn't officially open until 1st July and after the way it worked out last year I would imagine there have been some lessons learned about rushing into things.

If players are currently attached to a club then yes I would imagine July is more likely for signings. I think the club is rightfully taking its time and being more discrete this year after the total mess they made of last season. For me what's important is that fans are patient at the start of this season. This will be a very new team and it could well make a slow start just like last year. Knee jerk reactions need to be avoided.

I'm sure we have looked at dozens and dozens of players, would think we will be keen to get the bulk in for the start of pre season training, or certainly our first friendly match on July 8. Then again maybe it won't work out like that, time will tell.
Of course last season we go our recruitment wrong - and of course the buck stops with the manager on that (Chris Todd). I guess perhaps his inexperience told in the end.

Maybe another signing next week?!

To me that is a good sign. Shows we are considering our targets and not simply signing players because they are there like we have done previously.

I think down in the fifth division we have to wait for things to cascade down from all the player releases and loan and transfer opportunities that spill out from the wheeling and dealing in the upper echelons of league footy. I believe we are in good hands though no one is infallible. I worried the writing was on the wall last season when we seemed to be signing every centre back on the market.

We will get much better value from July on. Wasted a helluva lot of money last summer, lets get it right this time.

Some good ones in the pipeline I hear that are hopefully coming. Its all about contracts ending on June 30th and being free agents on July 1st...then we will see a few signing on the dotted line...promising to sign is one thing but if they get offered better deals elsewhere we lose them. Very good interview from RH in The Non League Paper yesterday, he even mentioned some players who were asking for sky high wages might come back next month with lower offers to sign for Eastleigh...its really all about how much gravy they can put on their plate from some teams...but I liked one thing RH said...He wants players who really want to play for Eastleigh, he made a very telling statement about some of those in the dressing room when he returned last season.

Wouldn't the reason why players would want to play for Eastleigh be that we can offer them more money than other clubs at this level? Which is exactly the reason why we shouldn't be signing them.

It's a very good point which I agree with....to quote RH in the paper yesterday on his return in February "There were too many players in the dressing room who weren't really that bothered and too many who weren't worth the money they were being paid".....RH does care about the club, and wants to spend SD's money wisely, while also hoping to mount a promotion challenge, so another interesting point was his belief that in reality because of the rule change to top 6 PO's after automatic promotion for the champions it is no longer about being in the top 5......but the top 3 and the logic makes a lot is sense when you think about it....we are in good hands.
