Can you not see the FA have a point about conflict of interest? Its a classic case where they are hung whatever they do. The FA have to be so careful because if they aren't they will get slaughtered. The rules about a conflict of interest are there to protect the clubs and the integrity of the competition. I can see that no-one will understand or sympathise with the FA's position, but that's because its the FA and people are unable to be rational in looking at anything they ever do. I repeat IMO, the FA have done a remarkably good job, and the Premiership an equally good one. Okay we can all criticise lots of aspects, I do myself, but overall I think they do a brilliant job, and both our pyramid structure and premiership are the envy of the world.

No company that has direct influence on teams should be allowed to sponsor any club. The betting companies are the obvious example of this.

I think that the issue is a person being majority shareholder of one and chief sponsor of another. I do not know of anyone who thinks that Stewart would abuse this situation, but I definitely think there are those in football who might.
I do like the fact that Michael appears to see both sides of the situation.

If you've been reading Michael's posts this week you will realise he is not currently a well man, so can you show some decency of respect by at least correctly spelling his name, he doesn't need wind ups like that at this time.

Thank you Keith. In all seriousness I actually believe the FA do a great job for English football, and I think the Premiership is a fantastic competition. The FA do remarkably good work in whole areas of football. What they have done for woman's football, disabled football, and in many, many areas. We organise competitions superbly. The best organised major competition in (relatively) modern times is generally agreed to be the Euros of 1996. The way they have built and extended the non league pyramid, the quality of our stadiums and football, at all levels is fabulous. Of course there are problems and the relationship between the FA and Premiership is a problem; but overall I think both bodies are doing a super job. I just think its the "in" thing to bash them, mostly IMO without justification.
