I thought I read an announcement some weeks ago, possibly from Chris Blake, that all supporters were invited to the Player Award Presentations after today's match. I was therefore surprised to read by chance a Facebook post yesterday offering a ticket to the presentations. I have not seen any info either on the club website or this forum to say you needed a ticket. Based on the original info posted by Chris I went into the new building and up the stairs this afternoon only to find that people were presenting sheafs of tickets to get in and people were being told that you needed a ticket or a wrist band to get in. Now I have followed this club home and away for several years and I regularly read the club website for what it 's worth (not a lot) and the forum and the Spitfires Facebook Group. Nowhere have I seen or heard that I would need a ticket to get into the Presentations. While I stood open mouthed watching people presenting their tickets at the door I saw droves of people gaining entry with tickets, who I can honestly say I have never ever seen at an Eastleigh match - not saying they were never there but if they were regulars I would have seen them. No doubt someone will point out to me that it was mentioned here or there but I wonder how such a big event which many dedicated supporters would be keen to attend seems to have passed me by. Someone will tell me I should read this or that and - mea culpa - perhaps I should. Am I the only one to have been caught out by this? BTW I don't see how you could have a player of this season anyway but I would have thought the club might have been wanting to say a few things to supporters - shame some of us supporters weren't given a chance to be there.

It also said Food and Disco, however some people were buying food and when I asked the question "does the ticket include food?" The answer was no, yet no one asked me for any money........a little confused really?? By the way the 🌶 was very good😃😃

There are a couple of references to it on twitter & official Facebook. Don't think anything on our official site though.
Must admit I wasn't quite sure how the ticketing logistics would work in the new venue, possibly the club weren't sure either.
Was anyone refused entry? I assumed that you could just turn up on the door, pay £5 & in you go (with ticket/wristband or possibly neither).

So it's clear the club has little interest in communicating with its supporters. Funny thing is the Fans' Forum is well broadcast but not the event that gives supporters the chance to applaud their players. Gosport Borough for all their woes are a better club in that respect.i

Agreed. A great way to distance the fans from the players. Usually a bit of a party atmosphere last game of the season rather than a outcast.

Exactly. I certainly felt like an outcast barred from entering while hundreds of people were ushered in brandishing tickets which were not offered to us regular supporters. What a let down after sticking up for the club through what seemed like a self destruct season.

The first post of the Player of the Season thread clearly states the arrangements for this event, although on reading it I was not sure from reading this whether you needed to pay in advance or at the game, but I was able to contact the club to resolve this.
The thread was well viewed and there was a good attendance at the event so it did seem that Spitfire Lady's posting had some effect and as someone who rarely uses social media and has not been to all of the recent games I was able to appreciate her efforts.
As the new carvery was announced at the presentation evening I think that is why it received a mention on this forum.

Well Malcy , as I mentioned I knew someone would point out to me that it was all my fault. But really? Do you think it's enough to communicate this end of season event by just putting out a post on the fans forum which is not even an official club portal and is read by only a limited number of people? I don't think so and to try to defend it is in my view very poor. So please don't blame me for being ignored. It's the club who should take responsibility for failing to communicate with its regular and loyal supporters who were turned away this afternoon.

I wonder if there was a bit of misunderstanding here. When I first read about the event my natural reaction was to email the club and find out if I needed to buy a ticket in advance. I was told that I could pay on the day and in fact bought my ticket at 12.00 yesterday. If others who asked if they could buy a ticket just over two hours later were told they could not or that the event had sold out then they are in my view quite unfortunate.
I would agree that some of the communication from the club is not good especially with regard to the official club website, although even if this was improved I doubt whether I would refer to it very often. However I do like to acknowledge the efforts of those who take the trouble to communicate things, and in fact since Wednesday have received three emails providing information on things happening at the club one of which referred to yesterday's event.
