Ah, but SD did say at the laSt Fans' Forum (during MA's reign ) that we would be installing a Desso pitch this summer.

Michael-I think it's called character having an old ground with old facilities in this heavily sanitised and blad world we live in. Over the past couple of years I've been to Brentford with their terraces and pubs on each corner, fratton park and burnley and far more enjoyed the experience than the prestine plastic Amex stadium in Brighton, madeski reading and Ricoh in Coventry. Don't speak for all us please pal. These plastic stadiums with their non description atmosphere have made it so unaffordable for people to go to football we now have a lost generation. Given the choice I'd rather watch football on a cramped terrace with suspect toilets than not at all.

Actually I don't disagree with you willk. And don't get any wrong impressions, I am speaking for ME and only ME. I also support QPR who do still play in an old style stadium, and I absolutely love Loftus Road, which is 100 times the stadium, that soulless St Marys is or ever will be. However I don't see why a modern ground has to be in the style you describe, and I don't see why the basic things can't be done right, like proper toilets, and somewhere to get a burger that doesn't involve a half an hour queue. I was at the 1986 league cup final at Wembley, toilets there were so bad, you had people peeing in glasses and leaving them wherever they stood. I want comfort, atmosphere, and decent facilities. I don't see why that can't be incorporated into a modern setting, though I do agree a lot of modern grounds do leave a lot to be desired in terms of atmosphere.

Ah, but SD did say at the laSt Fans' Forum (during MA's reign ) that we would be installing a Desso pitch this summer. The way I heard it, Stewart was considering installing a Desso pitch. He said that the cost over a five year period would be £1.5 million. Although I would love to see a marvellous pitch, I don't think we should take for granted that Stewart would be spending this sort of money. It looks as if there shall have to be massive team building in the close season, which shall be costly. All we can do is continue to support Stewart and the club, and hope for a better season (although I am happy to see National League football (as long as it's not Martin Allen's kick and rush!))

I just find it so sad that ppl (real die hard fans) who probably stood on the stretford end, the kop, north bank the shed end etc have probably not been for 20 years. Their £5 ticket now costing £70. I know which era those supporters would want back. All modern grounds can't have atmosphere as there are so many things you can't do or say ( the prats who stopped those lads in the Mckoy want shooting at dawn) I couldn't care less if Eastleigh improve their facilities at all, I get in at 3 leave at 4.45-just a game of football to me all I do know is that these grounds now host more prawn sandwich munchers then long standing 'proper' fans
