Poole have done a lot of the work needed, I think the only current sticking point is that they don't have the full 500 seats under cover

slightly odd interview on radio solent.
The decision is being appealed but it sounds like they realise that the appeal will fail.
Of course they may not finish in the top 5 anyway.
poses a couple of questions: *If Poole are in the top 5, will the 6th placed team be in the place offs? Or will the playoffs take place between 3 teams? *Are Hungerford eligible for the playoffs (presumably they are).

I did go to North Ferriby yesterday and formed the impression that the problem they had was they could not expand and there are many clubs I believe who are unable to meet ground grading requirements due to things outside their control.
I would have thought that having achieved three promotions that Poole would have made some ground improvements to achieve these,

New grading rules were changed in May 2016 to take effect on 31st March 2017.....seems very harsh. We would not have gained promotion to the national league had that rule been in place. Hungerford were also barred from playing in the playoffs yesterday as well so the team finishing 7th will now get a PO spot. Darlington also miss out in the north section.
The rule is to have 500 covered seats across two stands as at March 31st 2017.
Have Maidenhead done that? Or Ebbsfleet?

Pathetic pc rubbish these ground gradings. When was the last time you heard a tragic disaster at this level? Fans will go anywhere -in fact there's something always very quaint about these old grounds. I love going to fratton park whose away end is 1970s. Oh well, at least Rotherham , Coventry and Torquay have all got nice grounds. That's what matters...

Maidenhead built a new stand in 2014 with 500 seats in it, ebbsfleet have over 500 seats and have had several seasons in the national league in the recent past.
Eastleigh have had over 500 seats since 2009 and competed in the conference south playoffs twice before we won the league and gained promotion in 2014.

Think you have that wrong Rendel, no way Eastleigh had 500 seats since 2009. The Main Stand only holds 175 as it is now and we needed 25 seats put in behind the goal under cover to have the then required 200 covered seats for the PO's. Since then it has gone up firstly to 250 covered seats to the new level now of 500 covered seats. You seem to make it up as you go along mate :-)

I think that you'll find that the blue stand holds 352 Spirit, double your estimate....

25 seats behind the goal, blimey that would be a properly tinpot stand!!
The stand behind the goal had 160 seats in it giving us a total of 512 seats.
I think its been 500 seats to get "A" grading for about 20 years (possibly longer)

Keith, I am not sure where you get your info from, but Rendel is corect. I have been involved in the grading since around 2006.The main(blue) stand has 352 seats, which meant we could play in the Conf south each year. We were heading for the play offs in 2009 and we knew that to compete in the play offs, we had to have 500 seats, so Paul Murray, the Chairman at that time bought another 160 seats that were fitted in the then covered part of the south terrace. Thus, we were allowed in the play offs. What we didn't know was that they would let you install temporary seats to make up the 500 total. So it has always been that you had to have 500 seats to be in the play offs or the National League. What has changed this year, is that you have to have 500 permanent seats now, rather than up to 150 temporary seats. The reason for these rules is so that you don't have clubs clogging up the system in a higher league, with no chance of moving further up the pyramid.

The information I had Mick came from The Non League Club Directory 2012 which states EFC had 175 covered seats at that time. Must admit I often look up that stand and think there's more than 175 people up there but I won't do a 'Rendel' and count them out!! :-) Anyway it's 352 from now on lol.

For me, if you want to play at what in what is virtually a professional league, you should have appropriate facilities. I don't go with this, as long as the team is good enough, they should go up regardless viewpoint. You have fans at our level paying serious money to travel to and watch a game of football. Proper facilities, suitable for every group in our society should be in place, and we should have comfort suitable for 2017. The days when you had to put up with cold, dingy, smelly toilets, are thankfully long gone.
I actually applaud the massive improvements football grounds have been forced to undertake. They make the football experience much more pleasant for me, and anyone else I want to bring with me. Now attention needs to be turned to the pitch. There should be a minimum quality, which should be rigorously enforced. If the clubs can't afford it - simple, play at a level you can afford.
