Some stats to cheer everyone up from the conference last 10 seasons (since its had 24 teams):
Average 5th bottom points = 48 (highest 54 lowest 42)
Number of times teams in the bottom 4 have not been relegated - 6
2006-2007: Boston double relegation so 4th bottom Altrincham reprieved 2007-2008: Halifax expelled from league 2009-2010: Salisbury expelled from league 2010-2011: R&D expelled from league 2013-2014: Hereford & Salisbury expelled from league
We currently have 43 points. In summary:
50 points will almost definitely keep us up. 48 points will probably keep us up. 46 points has a chance of keeping us up.

I think we could be in trouble then as I predict we will pick up just two draws in the rest of the season

We'll be ok. Plenty of games left and we'll scrape enough together in good time.

No, I'm an Eastleigh fab. That's why I spend £150 a year on a season ticket. What I'm not is some head in the clouds happy clapper. As we've gained 4 points since Dec 31st and the teams confidence and performances are getting worse week after week what does logic tell you about the amount of points we're likely to pick up now?

Football logic says 6 to 10 points current form says less but form fluctuates wildly

6-10?? And we've only got 4 since Dec. Please tell me the formula behind that one. Form hasn't fluctuated much since Dec has it?

There is no formula. That was my point. Form is temporary, even the very worst teams pick up points during a season and i think the change in management will eventually see us get something and one win often leads to another. Doubt you thought we would get anything from Aldershot but somehow we did!

Interesting to look back on this thread - as seemed likely, just 1 win has made a massive difference on the outlook.
Whilst we still probably need more points to avoid the drop, if we win tomorrow we'll probably go in the top half!

We're not happy clappers Willk. None of us like what Martin Allen did to the club and we certainly didn't enjoy watching our team lose match after match. However, we kept going to the games, tried to find any positives (and there weren't many/any) but Eastleigh is our team and we support them through the good times and the bad times. We don't moan about Stewart - he did what he thought was best. He didn't need to apologise for his managerial appointments and all other decisions this season but, since he has been given so much stick, he felt he had to. We're only in our third season in this league and perhaps our expectations are just too high. There are a lot of big ex league clubs in this league and we all know how difficult it is to be promoted from it. Eastleigh is my team and I will support them, whether they win, lose or draw. Our lads are just starting to get their confidence back and I just hope they don't read all the negative posts on this forum. It's support they need: not constant criticism (before you say it, I know the forums are a place to vent and share our views but the level of negativity is really getting boring now). Come on you Spitfires!

We probably need 3 or 4 points to be safe. A point today would be great. As stated above one win has made everybody feel better. SD is staying, the new building looks fantastic, we have a core fan base of about 1200, and are following a club unrecognisable from only 2 or 3 years ago. Fans all over the country will be envying us right now. We have a lot to be cheerful for, we've just had a few bad months. It happens - get over it!

Three more points today...I am 100% convinced of it, Macca and Tubbs one each, Beano to go on and notch another for a 3-0 win. No need to send for the white coats...I know I said Beano to score, he deserves one actually :-)
