INJURIES!
for example, we have what I personally would consider to be our sub keeper in goal. Clarke is better than Stack in my opinion.
Today our back 4 was: Odoffin, Dugdale, Obileye, Muggleton In my opinion our best back line is: Hoyte, Cresswell, Reda, Cole And I believe that will be the back line next season too., so NONE of our first choice back 5 played today, and against a team in Tranmere I think they did bloody well.
in midfield we have lost our best centre mid to an injury in Taylor and currently have 36 year-old Strevens in there working his butt off each game, and fair play to him he played well today.
with a fit squad we have a team capable of shutting out any team and when you do that there is always chance of a goal at the other end.
As fans we need to see this. We can't get used to Stew buying players to cover injuries because that just makes the wage bill ridiculous and it's what MA has started to sort out for us.
In the summer I think we'll see another winger come in, a couple of decent centre mids and a decent striker or two. I'd be surprised to see any defenders coming into the squad as when it's fit it's a fantastic defence for this league, probably a great defence for League One, although I haven't completely made my mind up on Cole yet.
have faith spitfires. Today was a better performance in the first half with players who seemed to want the game today. The last 30 mins just got away from us really.
keep supporting and spread the word about Tuesday nights free game. COME ON YOU BOYS IN BLUE!!!

There will be massive changes over the summer - we've been promised that. Whether they can gel to become a winning team immediately is IMO a massive gamble. I'm not sure how many of the current squad will be here next year, and I wonder if that knowledge is affecting the team performances.
As for what you write here, I don't think Stack has done anything wrong in the last two games, he's got his limitations, though. Yes, Clarke did well before he got injured (he's very brave) but I remember some mistakes too - I think there are some rose-tinted glasses around where he's concerned by a few people. I agree that Cresswell and Reda are the best two centre backs, and a good partnership - but how often is Reda injured? We knew he was injury-prone when we bought him so that's no excuse. Hoyte I personally don't rate at all. I've not seen enough of Cole to say yet. Muggleton was a disaster today and it's only his throws keeping him ahead of Cole.
I thought Taylor was underrated and that his injury has been a big blow, however with Togwell in place I'm not sure whether he'll get back in the team when fit. Strevs worked hard today as usual but I did see him lumping the ball forward in un-Strevs style today (as did Dugdale), I assume on instructions from MA.
I think our current wide players (Stearn and McLeod) show promise but overall I agree with the areas you say need strengthening. MA said we had too many players and the squad needed pruning but IMO the team at the moment shows that a bit of overpruning took place in Jan/Feb.

Didn't SD tell us that there would have to be a reduction in the wage bill and that is what has happened.

Agree with most of the above posts, it's a massive transitional period, all-be it hard to watch. Made even harder with really poor individual performances from players who are unfamiliar, under pressie with low confidence. A big leader on the pitch would help.
