Something positive at last! Lets all hope he doesn't have too many injuries. With a 3 year contract though maybe that gets him sorted financially regardless of him playing.

With his injury history, I thought he might be one on his way. Surprised at that.

With his injury history, I thought he might be one on his way. Surprised at that. We always knew he wouldn't be starting more than 50% of games - he's only managed that once since 2010. In fact he played 16 games from the end of August to 27 December which I suggest is more than most of us thought he would have at this stage of the season.

All of which makes the decision to sign him for 3 years even more strange. When he plays, you'd want him in your team, but I can't understand why the club would sign a player on such a long contract (at this level) knowing he's only likely to play 50% more or less of the games. I might be wrong, but I have a feeling there were question marks over the long term fitness of Ryan Cresswell & Jason Taylor when/before they signed for us.

I'm guessing this is a calculated gamble. If he stays fit, strong possibility a long term contract means we will be able to sell him up the leagues for a good price. If we get between 20-30 games a season from him he will out-perform the level we are playing at so worth the money. If we get 15 games a season it may almost be worth the money. Only potential downside is if he is injured very long term and guess they looked and thought the positives outweigh the negatives for such a strong player.

Must admit I share your concerns nobad for an injury prone player who is nearing 29.
As others have said its obviously a calculated gamble, none of us who the figures so its a bit hard to assess it.
Obviously MA sees Reda as part of our longer terms plans so hopefully that bodes well!

Back from injury, plays a game plus 35 mins & is injured again. Just seems a very strange decision to give him a 2.5yr extension to his contract.

Assumed he must have aggravated his injury to come off so soon. Not good at all - could have put him back several games.
