Two things: Firstly the club record received fee? Wouldn't be surprised if there are caveats to this based on sell ons and appearances etc. Secondly, I think the statement issued by the club is poor by simply saying 'it won't stand in the way of players wanting to move to a higher level.' He's moved to Barnet not Chelsea! This sends a totally mixed message about the ambition of the club. I'd rather the club had said nothing than say this. As I said in a previous post, if we were in the play offs would we be selling? or maybe we would... because the club just don't have the financial clout to compete in the football league or stand in the way of players moving to the mighty Barnet. You've answered you own aand game to here! If we were in the play offs I doubt he'd had left, or at least given until end of the season. But we are not, therefore the club cannot stand in the way of a player who wants league football and force him to stay here for another 18 months of his career just to find out if we go up or not!! the club has ambition, it's just utterly stupid to question. Just look around the ground at the moment and it shows you that!!

Be in no doubt that EFC has financial clout, just listen to the SD interview of where he hopes this club will be in five years time in the FL. Once out of this extremely difficult league just watch us fly...spitfires!!!
