Anyone know what on earth happened with the substitution?!
I always thought they were a fairly simple transaction - 1 player off & 1 player on.

In his post match interview Ronnie said Greener got booked for time wasting.

Green had delayed taking a throw-in 30 seconds earlier and the ref had spoken to him, and when the ball went out again, the ref did not signal for the sub to come on. When Green again delayed the throw, he booked him. Technically correct but why not allow the substitution with the ball out of play on two occasions? A situation created by inflexible refereeing?

"why not allow the substitution with the ball out of play on two occasions?"
That is a very good question. Especially given Dugdale had already left the field. I guess perhaps Dugdale should have stayed down for longer/gone off the pitch slower?
Once the ref had not allowed the sub, perhaps instead of delaying the throw, Green could have given it to an Eastleigh player to kick it off for a goalkick/throw in the D&R corner.
Or though would the ref have even allowed the sub on then?!
Certainly a strange incident and I think we were hard done by there.

The Fourth official had not been informed who the Substitute was, therefore the referee did not know what play was coming on. That was how I saw the incident at the time from where I was sat in the west stand.
