3-1 up at HT.
Triallist Luka, Mandron & a Yemi pen with the goals.
Huddart in goal first half, Flitney 2nd half?

Quite a hostile home crowd for a pre season friendly and numbers.
Both teams could have ended with 9 men if this were a league game and Drury took two challenges that were out of order for the game.
In all honesty, didn't find it entertaining at all to watch and 2nd half was dire entertainment.
Mandron stuck out like a sore thumb first half, Jai the 2nd. Mandron is a very good player.
The two trialists were ok, but nothing more.
I'd seriously consider starting the season with Jack M at left back. Our defence is weaker than last year and JT, Evans and Reid are all better than our new signings, Obileye aside. We will miss Harding massively and our defence is a concern for me. We don't have one ball playing CB, all look hoofers, but less accurate than what Will was.
Apart from Wilson and Mandron I am not impressed at all yet with Todds recruitment. Early days, but that is my first impressions.
Still not getting Dawson. Just put the ball in the bloody box early or beat your man, does neither.
Will be interesting to see what the home faithful think at first impression as for me I can only pick 7 of the starting 11 at present, and one of them won't start as won't play together.
Flitney Partington Obileye Coulson Reason Wilson Mandron

We had four months of dire football from January, and a lot of fans voiced their disapproval of it, nothing has changed it seems, we've found two very good strikers by all accounts and nothing else. The bookies have us as second favourites for the title...they have to be joking, its nowhere near a top six team, let alone a title one.

In fairness, this is only my view on entertainment, and like I said last year, I don't demand we win, I like to be entertained, so I am fully aware my expectation is different of that of CT and SD as they need to win.
Obileye will be a good signing, Jake played well in midfield also, but I just don't see a midfield partnership working at present. We HAVE to play Jai, but I'd prefer a box to box midfielder next to him, something we don't have, which is why we should have taken a chance on Carmichael. We just don't have runners past the front line, anywhere.
Wilson and Mandron could be dynamite up top if we just actually tried them together.
All comes down to your own preferred style of football. What one likes, rest might not.
If people are expecting wingers though this season then be prepared to be dissapointed. Not that it's what I want to see.
We did try various formations last night and for me we looked better when we were 352, but then it was lesser opposition.

A hand full of PSFs against lesser opposition & it's all falling apart!! Are you reading too much into one person's views of things? Nothing like a bit of optimism ahead of the forthcoming season, you know.

How do you know nothing has changed, there are players I'd never seen, there are still trialists in the team, pre-season tells us nothing whatsoever about where the team is at. I have seen two games, so four teams & couldn't give a judgement about where the team is going to finish the season, I couldn't even guess the starting 11 for the Guiesley game

Loving the negativity, someone was on here 3 weeks ago moaning the pitch wasn't ready and it was embarrassing, now we have judgements for the next 9 months being made on a couple of pre-season friendlies. You couldn't make it up (oh yes you could!!) Try and enjoy the ride for the first couple of weeks of the real season, life really is too short to be so miserable over the bits that don't really matter and pre-season friendlies really do not matter they are for the Manager to have a look at players, as for entertainment were there not the standard amount of subs made that would break up any chance of flowing footy? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the next few friendlies are fantasy football jobbies but honestly all I really care is that we give Guiseley a good beating on the 6th, but if we don't I will probably give it a bit longer before deciding the season is over quite yet.....

I don't expect us to go up anyway, so no high expectations there from me. My comments are never around results, just my viewing pleasure. Pre season friendlies are pointless but the point I'm making is I see very little difference in style from last year and as we know SD has stated to CT that he expected that to change. Be interesting to see in a couple of months how other people view this once we've had 10 games under our belt in the league. I expect us to pick up points no problem, just depends if you like how it's done. I've seen quite a few national league teams pre season and I get where they are going, but I don't with us so much on the pitch. I'm quite happy to be wrong also, but as ever I'll give my views in advance, not just creep out of the woodwork after the event. By the way, I'm not the only one saying this, just the only one that has posted it on here. It's very early days and 3 home games now will help a lot more. Like I said, be interested to hear others views, but don't expect many will be forthcoming with them though just in case they a wrong or upset the apple cart. Let me know if you think we have improved squad wise and if you think we should start with Mandron and Wilson. It's good to discuss and we don't have to agree with each other I shall say no more going forward, but look forward to reading other opinions around players and tactics. I also look forward to Mandron and Wilson together as they will both star. Watch them fly when put together, which hasn't happened as of yet.

I personally don't know enough to have opinions on how the season will pan out , but after reading some of the comments how can you be disappointed with pre seasons if you also state they pointless , surely life must be desperate if you are not happy with things that don't matter ,

Pre-season friendlies are not primarily meant for entertainment, they are for the manager to look at his squad, try out different formations, and build fitness, team spirit and morale. That's why I'm not usually willing to pay a lot of money to go and see one (see other thread), and that's usually why they are at reduced prices. Non-competition games and often missing big names.
We still have three more friendlies to go before the Guiseley match, presumably by the time of the Northampton game, the manager will have a better idea of what his team should look like. We're playing the better teams at the end of pre-season for that reason. The time to start judging is on Aug 6th, when we need to hit the ground running, and subsequent games. Both on results and entertainment value. Hopefully we can achieve both.
