I think he has just taken the offer which is on the table of a club at a higher level than us. I note its a 2 year deal as well.
Without meaning to knock Turley I would doubt he would get many league 2 offers, so I can see why he has taken this one.

You've got to believe that the people running the club are going to have planned for this eventuality, surely when you have a business with the uncertainty of employees and recruitment that a football club has at our level, you have a plan A B C D E & F. I'm sure at times during the next couple of months we are going to wonder what's going on and why, so fingers crossed we get a big win in the market soon to placate the naysayers before they start.

Its a very tricky balance. Stewart spoke about this a while ago. Players/agents will often ask for a high wage early on which will drop to a more realistic figure as time runs out & they are keen to get a deal fixed up.
On the other hand you wait too long and all the decent signings may well have been snapped up.
Our recruitment this summer is absolutely key, lets hope we get it right. Of course we will all get excited in the coming days and weeks as the signings come in but the real test is when the proper stuff starts in August.

Look at us now with a talented bunch of centre backs. They're all having to play at the top of their game to fight to get into the line up. Well done Stewart for our new signings - there are some real gems in there :-)

Quite amazing how different our team is now compared to when I started this post! We have a fantastic defence now. Gonna be a very good season for us

Turley scored the winner today for Newport

I know it's only our third game but, with such expectation of our new signings and being second favourites to win the league I feel pretty deflated (especially with Turley's and Lafayette's winning goals). Better hope for a big win against Dover.....

Better hope for a big win against Dover..... Give it time. The quality we have bought will eventually tell. Good luck to Turley but I think Newport will still struggle this season.

In all honesty, although Turley was a decent enough defender, he was never dominant enough for me. I think we now have far better CH's in our squad.

After the game against Guisley I thought Turley would really struggle to get a starting spot with us this season. That's how much we have improved over the summer. Top marks to everyone at the club for not just the great defenders they've brought in but also the rest of the team.

It does seem a bit strange to think of Ayo and Johnson together as being like the Great Wall of China when I do not believe that either of them has played at all this season.
It is good that people feel confident about the defence, but it is perhaps interesting to note that we had a spell towards the end of the season when we conceded only 2 goals in 9, when we have now conceded 4 in 3.
I think it is important to get cover for every position, but I think that the challenge is to keep the players that will end up not being selected for the majority of games at the top of their game. I personally think that Yemi Odubade, Jack Midson and Stuart Fleetwood all prior to the club had previously shown they were capable of scoring goals, but I think that all three found it harder when they were not first choice, although I also think that Yemi is a loyal servant of the club who is well liked by the fans.
