Question of a points deduction at the top of the National league south. This from SUFC -
"We can confirm that the club has been charged by the Vanarama National League with fielding an ineligible player in the 3-0 win at St Albans last month. The charge concerns the appearance of Jamie Slabber as a substitute, with the allegation that the relevant forms concerning his loan from Hemel Hempstead had not been lodged with all the relevant authorities prior to the game and he was therefore ineligible to play, although the paperwork had been submitted to the league on time and the league had approved the loan. Jamie came on with twenty minutes to go when U’s were already 3-0 up. The club is not admitting the charge and will request a personal hearing."
Nuneaton got a 3-point deduction last month for exactly this.

Blimey, this could be rather expensive for Sutton,
Even if they lose no points it could have a damaging effect around the club.
Sure it wasn't an April fool prank from ebbsfleet?!

Loan approved by the league, paperwork received by the league on time...yet the charge is all the relevant forms were not submitted with all the relevant authorities. Does that mean The FA? No one in the office at the time at The FA? They will cover their backside and punish Sutton. Do they really think they'd have played him unregistered, they were 3-0 up with 20 minutes left to play when he went on. Come on, this is a balls up by the league and FA, high time they admit they do make mistakes, it is never them, always the clubs.

No points deduction for them, just a £500 fine

And are effectively crowned champions.
Not exactly the most exciting way is it? Doesn't quite compete with 18/4/14!
I see they are doing ST renewals for just £85 next season so we will be losing our "cheapest in the top 5 flights" moniker :0(

In fairness they've probably won it with their plastic pitch.
I will never pay money to watch plastic football.

If it's as good as Maidstone s pitch. Will be a great test for the FA.

Maidstone might yet come up with Sutton, Ebbsfleet are in free fall. As to the pitch debate, Sutton have 46 points away from home out of 60 with one to play, while at home they have 38 points from 60, also one to play (Today v Chelmsford)and Maidstone also have picked up more points away than at home too. As things stand they cannot be promoted from Non League to the Football League so that could be interesting if one of them were to get into a PO spot next season.

You cannot argue with Suttons promotion, they have been fantastic. They will get a reality check next season though.

I was going to mention about Sutton's away record, but Spirit of Eastleigh beat me to it. I make Paul Doswell's managerial record 5 promotions and 4 playoffs in 12 full seasons which I think is a fairly good record.

Well done Sutton with so many ex Eastleigh players. Looking forward to seeing them next season, with some of our current squad, no doubt.

Fair point Keith re the away record and I am pleased to see some of our ex players getting that championship medal. I won't be going to our away fixture with Sutton next season though, (assuming we are still in this league ourselves of course). Paul Doswell's record is remarkable as Malcy points out.
