This is the one competition where i think replays should stay. Particularly in rounds 1-4 where smaller teams can make large amounts of money from having a replay against a "big team". What really bugs me is all this is aimed at doing is protecting the top 6 Premier league clubs, who will also have European football to content with. So its aimed at making less games for them. Never mind the other 86 football league clubs and all the non league clubs aswell. Elitist in the extreme! Premier League football really is going to eat itself one day and i'll laugh my nuts off when it does go pop.

Agree with you Satts about keeping the replays until 5th Round, that makes sense for the little clubs for finance reasons. Then go evening matches, one game, winner takes all. I also think they should scrap the League Cup, which was only born by Alan Hardaker opposing European Football...European Cup as it was then, and always will be in my view why Man United attempted a 3rd take off (He said United would lose points by default if they failed to play on Saturday). This cup should never have started and its about time it was put to bed, it was one man's ignorance to the future of club football. Why are we the only country that has two major cup tournaments alongside a league programme whch affects those in Europe mostly? Either scrap it or allow those clubs in Europe not to enter. Sooner or later I see this going down to non league level, as I mentioned elsewhere on a thread, after the FA Trophy rounds in December and January it should revert to a midweek ko and no replays, extra time, penalties if required. You cannot expect players at that level to play 46 league games and try to get as far as they can for revenue in the FA Cup, plus FA Trophy as well, quite simply there are too many games being played nowadays for players to cope with.

Good grief. I find myself agreeing with both sets of points raised by Sattsy & SOE! Well said, gentlemen.

I dont think i agree that players cannot cope with 46+ games. I mean for chrissakes, they play 2 or 3 times a week for 9 months of the year for 95 mins each time, whoopy do's!!, Im sure we would all love a job like that! Dont be giving me all hat tired nonsense. But lets be honest here, the squads of Man City and Chelsea etc are huge and its not the same players playing all 46 games. These clubs clearly prioritise the Premier League & the Champions league over everything. Most play "weakened teams" in the FA Cup, so as stated, its really not the same players, so whats the problem? In reality, the problem is, all these foreign owned clubs really don't care about the FA Cup. We as fans love it, but they don't. So let them pull out if they dont want the fixture pile up. It will weaken the competition, but so be it. But i'll tell you what....not one of them wil pull oit of it, they will still enter it, just incase their season goes pair shaped or they need to appease the fans with a trophy. SO they should put up or shut up! Bunch of millionaire whingers, i tell ya. Let them go work on a building site all winter, or do 4 x 12 hours straight night shifts in a boring warehouse, then they can tell me they are tired!!

"Premier League football really is going to eat itself one day and i'll laugh my nuts off when it does go pop." 1974 - I made a rare sortie into "enemy territory" to watch Hendon vs Newcastle United at Vicarage Road. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA0kMme_5pcIf they get their way on the FA Cup, watch how quickly the idea of no promotion to or relegation from the Premier League raises its ugly head again. Welcome to the NFL. In the middle of a June night Chelsea, unable to get a new home agreed, will re-locate in 200 trucks to Birmingham.
