Relegation confirmed last night. It’s been coming for quite a while.
They started the season with Just 6 points from 20 games & have never recovered.
I wonder what’s gone wrong down there?

This season was of course the post-Doswell season....
I saw then at New Year against Farnborough, where they lost a tight game and played quite well, so I thought they'd make a go of it. They did improve, but not enough.
Against Worthing on Good Friday they were decent in the first half, but missed loads of chances, but fell apart in the second half as the defence went to sleep at crucial moments. On paper the players look to have pedigree, but...
I hear they owe money to previous managers (they had the farce of appointing Steve King, which must have cost them a lot).
Doswell has of course gone to Sholing recently, and they have declined from comfortable mid-table to bottom four. Next season Havant, assuming they go Southern, will face possible local derbies at AFC Totton, Gosport, Salisbury (although one of these three may go up), Basingstoke, Winchester, Sholing, Poole (if the last two stay up)....

Strange to see a team managed by Paul Doswell doing less well. Three promotions at Eastleigh, two at Sutton plus playoff appearances and at H&W one playoff appearance and two top half of the table finishes.

Horndean, due north of Havant, went into the Isthmian last season, but the latest non-league projection has Havant in the Southern. Agree it could go either way.

On the subject of Doswell I don’t think he has had a great time at sholing this season, however they got a good win last night which goes a long way to securing safety for this season,

A couple of points here
`) I think that Paul Doswell was suspended for some of last season as a result of an incident in a match against Ebbsfleet,
2) I think that every previous club Paul Doswell has been at he has tarted the job at the start of a season rather than in mid-season.

They also oddly resigned from the 1/4 finals of the Portsmouth Senior Cup - a competition bigger than the World Cup according to some Neverwillvile fans (mention no name, Ade) I would've thought they would've wanted to go on & win it to end the season on a slight positive?

I think its more to do with the extra games and the fact that the cup competition could go on past the end of April, which is when most of their players contracts would have run out, so they would need to extend contracts if they got to the final, which would likely cost more than it was worth to win the thing. Poor season for them and its sad to see them drop a division, despite our historical (friendly) rivalry.

It won't be Lee Bradbury as he is at Port Vale

He is at port vale. I would have thought every chance of him departing at the end of the season as they seem likely to go down.

...... Poor season for them and it's sad to see them drop a division, despite our historical (friendly) rivalry. !00% agree. Sad to see them get relegated. I'd much rather have them got promoted to re-join us than drop even further behind. You can't beat a decent local rivalry - and it's much more fun to take the piss out of them when we beat them rather than them going down again. I feel sorry for the likes of Ade, Ketch, Harry & the rest of their fans that I have always had good natured banter with.

Ihis thread has given me an excuse to look up Josh Hares late winner when we beat them 2-1. One of my favourite Eastleigh goals, standing right behind it as the ball arrows in to the top corner. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QIdtfLTWHogoal is at 2.40. Enjoy!
