That's a pretty strong core kept together for next season, shame Hesketh just couldn't do it and abit of a shame about cisse.

I probably expected more to be released, but suspect Vinnie will get a FL offer and there's no surety that the other 2 will sign for us, so it could be as many as 9, which is about right. There are 3 or 4 in the retained list that will likely only feature in a handful of games. I also think a FL club could still come in for Joe McDonnell. So it will be all down to the caliber of players we bring in, to improve on what happened this season. I'm guessing that if the club are allowing Bradders to choose who stays and who goes, then we are keeping him for the start of next season. What i wouldn't want to see is him staying only to be sacked 4 games in next season, because that just wastes time and it would take a new manager time to bed his ideas in. Who ever is going to be our manager needs the full pre-season, to set things in place correctly for Kick off in August. I'm not as anti Bradders as some are, but the style certainly needs to improve and hopefully he can bring the players in to make that happen.

Amazed by Atangana being kept on, can only presume he had a 2yr deal, certainly didn't earn a 2nd year. Cisse had 41app to Nigel's 18. Hesketh will be off to Worthing/Havant at a guess.

Glad to see the core of the team have been retained. I hope we can keep ahold of Vinnie, but I expect him to receive offers from higher up the pyramid. I wouldn't mind if we keep Whitehall. Let's hope we focus on bringing in some strikers rather than leaving that as an apparent afterthought like we did last season. Now, if we can just find a Manager who isn't afraid to get the best out of a very talented squad of players.

With Andrew Boyce as well that makes it four former Eastleigh players at Scunthorpe who were a Championship club as recently as 2011 and who averaged attendances of over 3000 despite their second successive relegation.
As a Liverpool born player who began his career in the North of England I am wondering whether Danny Whitehall is wanting to move closer to his roots.

Sure they'll both love moving from Hampshire area to Scunny area, in terms of moving closer to his roots I can assure you now I live in Liverpool, on a Saturday Liverpool to Scunthorpe may aswell be Liverpool to John O Groats
Odd goings on at Scunthorpe , have made 4/5 early signings, however staff rumoured to be unpaid and just came across this, hope they stay secure with their new contracts

Fair enough. Scunthorpe is not on Liverpool's doorstep, but it is around half the distance from there than Eastleigh is. I am not sure where Danny Whitehall was bought up, but in his early career he played up North and his father did for most of his career.
Obviously he was offered a contract by Eastleigh and if one classes Charlie Carter as \a midfielder Whitehall was comfortably the leading goalscorer amongst our forwards last season.
