So... red card upheld, three game ban.
The video coverage is surprisingly good and supports my view that Jake was asking for trouble to do what he did, especially given the way the ref was already officiating during the match. Surprised with his experience that he did it.

Violent conduct Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.
Violent conduct An action, which is not a challenge for the ball, which uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent or when a player deliberately strikes someone on the head or face unless the force used is negligible
From the dictionary:
Brutality An act which is savage, ruthless or deliberately violent
If Jake's action is violent conduct then someone needs to explain it.
