It's Boyce... reasonably happy with this one. Our back-line has been good in recent years. We need two decent 20+ goal strikers. Get them and Eastleigh will get promotion...

Tyrone Barnett scored 12 league goals and was the team's joint leading goalscorer. You could also put down our goalscoring record at least partly down to the fact that only three players scored more than three goals as it is easier when you have several different goalscoring options.
After scoring the winner against Halifax Barnett played no part in the next six fixtures due to injury and in these games we only picked up a total of 4 points when we finished just 3 points off a playoff place.
When in 2018/19 McCallum scored 27 league goals we did not get promoted.

I like Ty, was no surprise that when injured we conceded a lot of goals from set pieces. Also chuffed that Boycey has signed. Now a bit of Birdy signing would just be great

On average, Barnett score a goal for every 3.5 games. For a side that wants promotion, I don't believe that is a good enough return. Come Eastleigh, let's see you pull something amazing out of the bag.

Barnett could be a decent foil to a 20 a season man. Just hope his body is good for another year. Happy with Boyce signing as well.

Sutton Uniteds top scorer according to Wyscout (a free app) scored ..... 14. The top 3 goalscorers played for Bromley , Maidenhead and Boreham Wood. 1 in 3.5 is perfectly fine if that player is also working hard which Barnett did last season in defence, at corners etc. The issue being Striker number 2 or 3 were non existent for large parts last season but then again we did play a 'defend first' which I believe led to the exceptional clean sheets total. We finished 17th out of 22 in the expected goals list. That just goes to show what would have happened had our defence not been so strong. We came joint 2nd in penalties although can't work out if that's penalties given or penalties scored (do not think we missed one)

Perhaps another aspect of Tyrone Barnett's contribution is that after scoring the winner in the match against Halifax he did not feature at all in any of the next six matches so he actually scored 1 goal every 3 games in the matches he actually played in. In those six games he missed we picked up just four points and scored just two goals. In these matches we were held at home by Woking who played over half hour with 10 men, suffered a home defeat at the hands of Chesterfield which proved crucial in the final analysis and suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Kings Lynn. I think that you could argue that in this spell games Barnett's contribution was missed.
As I said only three players scored more than three league goals last season and one of these had a tally boosted considerably by being the team's penalty taker.
I also think that a lot of successful football teams have several goalscoring outlets they can utilise.
