If you look at the line-up it would seem most players were out of their usual position. No surprises why we lost.

I did not see the game , but I did look at the team formation on BBC Sport and I will be surprised if Payne and Miley were the two centre backs, Smith and Bell-Baggie the two central midfielders and Blair and Tomlinson the two strikers. Not also sure about Bird on the right hand side of midfielder either, and also do not know whether on other occasions BBC Sport have listed the players in the right position. After the result on Saturday it did not make too much sense to alter the positions of almost half the players who played in that match even with Barnett injured and House presumably unavailable.
I see on Stockport's twitter feed they gave the man of the match award to a player they class as a midfielder, although on BBC Sport h is listed as playing in central defence.

Do not take any notice of the BBC's team formations I have noticed in all leagues that they can be farcical. Our first half display last night was as poor as we have been for a long time. I felt sorry for Smith running around like a headless chicken on his own up front. Conversely the 5 in mid field were so on top of each other there was no space for any of them to express themselves. Hope Strevs learned a lot which he should do in defeat. The one thing that is apparent in football is that usually the most successful sides are those with settled teams, I have said previously I'm not convinced Strevs knows his best team and although last night there were some enforced changes the set up showed us to be woefully short of the level required to be challenging for a play off place. We have a good squad of players we need to get the right team playing in the right system and as best we can stay with it through thick and thin. Competition for a play off place is very competitive March was always going to be a difficult month for us but there is a long way to go yet I'm sure we will have better days

Yesterday was the only time I have looked at the formations om BBC Sport and I only did so in light of the previous posting.
I do not think I have seen enough games to get an overall accurate idea of how the team is playing, but it does appear that we have fielded a more settled side in the last three years than we did in the two years before that and at other times during the clubs more recent history.
