The flip side to that Back4More is that the death rate is now down to single digit figures daily and I think we even had 0 deaths recorded on the 11th and 13th of August, the daily case rate is still in the 1,000 mark from a peak high of 5,000 in May all of this while - like you say - not everyone is completely playing by the rules when venturing out their house alot more, and if you felt comfortable going to an indoor shopping centre you should feel very secure going to football surely?

"....if you felt comfortable going to an indoor shopping centre you should feel very secure going to football surely?"
We hoped when we headed for West Quay that the conditions would be a lot better than they were. The actual experience was very uncomfortable and we won't go back to West Quay again unless it's to go specifically just to JL or M&S, both of which were OK. The other shops and the public areas were bad. The worst experience was going into the Apple store. We had previously given Fareham shopping precinct a try a few weeks ago and have similarly ruled that out from future shopping. Whiteley and Locks Heath are not so bad as they are outdoors with more space so you can see and avoid problems if there at quieter times. Hedge End M&S is also not too bad. Nowhere is comfortable. I think that one of the problems is that people become complacent when they see better stats. The virus can take up to two weeks before infection turns to early symptoms and the most severe symptoms can take more time then to develop. Thousands of people have suffered life changing after effects without actually dying. Many countries are seeing a resurgence of infections and deaths. No, we were never comfortable. We gave it a try and hopefully we live and learn.

Finger in the air (conservative) guess for the Silverlake, with social distancing.... 200-250 standing around the pitch should be safe sitting ,with two spaces either side of you, plus an empty row behind and in front of you: - blue stand 200-250? - Mackoy stand 300-400? so somewhere between 700-900 capacity? I'm just happy to see some football available to watch again (IMO it was a mistake to ban spectators at Step 7 grounds, for example), and if I get to see Eastleigh at some point soon too, then all the better. But we need to be careful - Covid infection rates are likely to rise when schools go back and autumn/winter colds etc. kick in. Shopping centres I won't visit unless I have to anyway, but I wouldn't feel safe due to air circulation in the indoor ones, not to mention the lack of awareness/consideration that some people show despite the warnings. It happens at football matches too. Heyford Athletic had to abandon a friendly recently due to spectators not sticking to the rules. fanbanter.co.uk/non-league-friendly-gets-abandoned-at-half-time/If I were to visit a shopping centre then I agree somewhere like Whiteley (free parking anyway) would be preferable. Some shops apply the rules seriously, some don't. Everything you do has a risk, you just have to assess it and do what suits you, and how much you NEED to do it.

Jill and I are still in effective lockdown at home. We've had no visitors nor seen any family since March and our "trips" out are no further than to Hedge End Post Office early (6.30 am), the local Tesco Express store and a weekly shop at Sainsburys Hedge End. We both are in the high risk category with poor immune responses due to pre-existing illness and therefore try to avoid busy places as much as we can. We've made just one trip out in the car to the New Forest to clean up the family grave in the churchyard, and leave some flowers. That's all we have to show for the last 5 months. We had hoped that there would have been some county cricket at the Rose Bowl - no chance of crowding at the 4-day games, but that has turned out not to be. Hampshire Cricket has been very efficient with regular updates and our 2020 season tickets/parking passes have been transferred to the 2021 season if we want that. As for football, I'm pretty gloomy. The virus doesn't seem to be going away and a summer virus pandemic is pretty unusual - most viruses do better in the winter when we're all packed together at home, work, schools etc. I fear we're stuck with this for the foreseeable future - so says this ex-virologist.

3 previous posts are great, hope everyone stays well and safe.
Taylov and Back4More + anyone else , what would it take for you to venture out to a match? What precautions would have to be shown/confirmed by the club for you to feel confident in enjoying a game at Eastleigh

See that AFC totton are letting in 100 fans today for their match against Havant with all tickets purchased online. Would imagine similar number for our match their next Saturday.

Quickly sold out, even at £10!
Even teams like AFC Portchester are making their FA Cup game v Sandhurst all-ticket (capacity will be 300).

Sadly the bars and the hospitality which can be great places to spend a bit of time are going to be out of bounds for me for now. On reflection, if admission is restricted initially to season ticket holders and tickets are released only for specific spaced out seating, there might be a chance the club could make it safe to attend matches. Perhaps the issue of the small number of tickets could be prioritised and the first priority could be those people who elected to let the club keep the refund from last season. After that first dibs might be remaining supporters who have had season tickets the longest.

I have yet to go to a match and will probably not do so until September. However as I have been to work every day since the lockdown I would have no qualms about visiting football grounds. However I liked to socially distance at times even before lockdown and think that some things that went on before the lockdown need to be curbed.
I also think that it is stating the obvious that if people are inside grounds then they have more influence on the game than if they are watching in a similar sized group in a pub.
Although the crowds at a lower level are easier to manage it is also harder for clubs at that level to pay for testing for Covid.

I went to a game last night, bought a ticket in advance, and on entering the ground had to register for track & trace purposes. Had no problem with that. Didn't go to the bar or get a tea etc, and kept my distance from anyone else. It occurred to me later that, let's say in 10 days time someone attending the game (only 100 or so) tests positive for covid, I could get a call telling me to self isolate for 2 weeks, even though I might have been no closer than 50 mtrs from the person in question.
Where there's a crowd of 200-300 and upwards, the likelihood of one person contracting the virus within say 10 days anywhere increases & as such the extreme inconvenience of self isolation being imposed is higher. I am wondering if going to a game is really worth it?

Track and trace, I understood, is based around being within 2 metres of someone for 15 minutes. Therefore I would not expect everyone at the game to be asked to isolate. I assume they would contact all listed and question them around their movements and only those that appear to have actually encountered the victim would be instructed to isolate.
