Now with the season officially ended what players would you keep and which one's should be let go. We have a good core group to the squad. Think we are carrying a few players that aren't making the grade.
Thoughts.

Ben Strevens' comments last week about looking to get more players coming through from the academy was a bit of an echo from the comments being made at the club just before the Bridle take over. The best and most experienced players had been released and the intention was going to be to concentrate on bringing young players through into the first team. The underlying message at the time seemed to me that "we're having to cut the wage bill". And that is what Ben's comments now seem to echo. Our best chances of surviving at this level will depend on most other clubs being faced with the same quandary.
Interesting list from goderz3. Have to say mine would be a bit different including definite keeps for Partington and Hollands. Whatever you think of his mobility we were always a better team with Danny Hollands playing. He sees things and reacts before anyone else and weirdly must be one of our top goal scorers. And we should look at playing Joe Partington at centre back. We would only get the benefit of his experience at right wing back if we have strong experience and skill level in front of him on that side and we are not likely to have that, whereas in the middle of a back three or back four his reading of the game will pay dividends. With the slim pickings we will have we will need all the experience those two have.
That is all supposing someone or other is not going to come in with significant resources to invest in rebuilding the squad. If that were to happen then it's a whole different ball game.

Would like to keep most of them but a lot depends on the clubs status (poss part time/semi professional) and wage constraints.

If we are going to bring in more Academy players I think that Jason Bristow's experience at working with young players will be an important factor. I think that with the situation just before the Bridle takeover the plan was for Kevin Braybrook to be part of the setup, but he left fairly soon afterwards and I do bot think that Ian Baird was comfortable bringing in young players and became reliant on his eight senior players.
I think that next season more clubs will bring in Academy players.

It's all very interesting seeing other people's views on this, that's the great thing about football. I would have to agree with back4more about joe, I've never thought of it from that prospective. I really like him and his passion for the game but I was very disappointed with him this season, especially coming back from league football. My thinking behind Danny was that as much as I like him I thought the game was starting to pass him buy and he did say he was thinking of hanging his boots up after this season, maybe he could go into a player/ coach role with the club.

Why let stryjek? Would think he would be definately one to keep It’s just my personal opinion as I do like him but he is prone to silly mistakes. It’s a shame Southwood left as he was a real prospect as his time at Hamilton has shown.

When Joe Partington rejoined Eastleigh there was talk of him setting up fitness camps for footballers in Hampshire, and I think sometimes players can contribute off the field as well as on it. People like Craig McAllister, Chris Todd, Ben Strevens and Ross Flitney have joined the club as players and have later reduced their playing commitments to become involved on the coaching side.
I think that when Eastleigh were promoted to the National League they signed players who were not able to contribute on the field of play, but were able to recommend the club to other good players who they had played with previously. Some players are also better at encouraging their team mates than others.
One question I have is are all the on loan players still with the club? I see that a lot of people would like to see both Rendell and Barnett released, but if that is the case do we have enough strikers and if not how easy would it be to sign anyone else?

"Would like to keep most of them but a lot depends on the clubs status (poss part time/semi professional) and wage constraints."
There's the $64,000 question. I can't see that a full-time, national, high-salary league is likely to be viable. Clubs at EFC's level are going to have to live without sponsorship deals; non-football income is likely to be a fraction of what was achievable in previous seasons.
There's a lot of serious suggestions that L1 and L2 will go regional, and if they do, so will all NL football, too. The new model will have to be like EFC 10 years ago, without the Directors/Owners putting in large sums. A long away trip will be to Eastbourne, Bognor or Whitehawk. No more high paid players either.
That's if the virus goes away, if it doesn't we won't have any football.

That's if the virus goes away, if it doesn't we won't have any football. Sadly I completely agree with the model you describe. Football as we have known could be completely destroyed. I do wonder whether clubs at Eastleigh's level are all better releasing their entire squad and mothballing clubs for a year until a vaccine is found. Even if a new season could start in September I can't envisage crowds of any size being allowed and sponsorship and corporate money will be heavily reduced. I just can't see it as viable even if played in a regional way. If I was a professional footballer right now I'd be very worried about my immediate future.
