3-0 down now. Fair play to those that went but from the commentary we sounded awful. 'And Partington gives the ball away' is something we've heard and seen far too often.

And why bring on Smart for Greener? Why not take off the lumberers like Barnett or Hollands.

With Dagenham and Chesterfield winning we are at the cliff edge now.

This is getting worrying - and the most worrying thing is: 'they should be all right'. Spitfires were never in it. And it takes something to feel sympathy for Barnett - but the ball never got near him first half, and then flew over his head in the second 45!

5 defeats in a bounce away from home now. The last four of those we have not scored and conceeded at least 2 in each game.
The silverlake is probably where we will pick up the majority of our points for the rest of this season.

The concerning fact is that all remaining six home games, are all currently against the top ten sides. We definitely need to maximise the points from our next two games, Halifax at home and Chorley away. I personally think, its the away games remaining is where I think the majority of our points will come from.

A couple of weeks back there was a thread on here speculating about the manager's position. We beat Woking and everyone seemed to think everything was rosy again. It is not. For me Strevens should not be immune from criticism, he gets far too easy a ride for past achievements as a player. Our form since Christmas has been absolutely miserable and we are in very real danger of going down. If we lose again against Halifax, then what? Its a result game and I think pressure should be put on the manager to sort it out or go. Our status in the national league is crucial, lose it and I fear the club will not come back to this level for a long time.

You do understand the concept of losing decent players means a downturn in results don't you?
This is where we are as a result of performing within our means.

Agreed Bomber,
My fear is this toothless board we have at the moment are attempting to keep the ship afloat without going into debt whilst marking time in case/if/when Stewart decides to come back. There seems no ambition other than to hopefully stay afloat in this league. I would rather have the "Pre Stewart" type of directorship back, they did not have oodles of cash but they were passionate, loyal, ambitious, true supporters, not like the lame duck board we have at the moment.
Don't blame the manager, he can only operate within the parameters he is given.

Don't blame the manager, he can only operate within the parameters he is given. I have mentioned a couple of times this season on this forum concerns about the board if we struggle or have a crisis. i agree with your points made about them being weak and simply keeping the ship afloat. It is precisely because they are weak that they won't put any pressure on the manager and I am sorry that's not good enough. I understand completely that the cloth must be cut accordingly in the post Donald era but the budget of the club is still competitive. I am sorry I just don't buy this 'don't blame the manager' view. If we go down is that the excuse, blame the board and not the manager? The buck rests with both and at the moment Streven's needs to pull his finger out and start getting results.

I agree that the manager is the guy who cops it ultimately but how do you blame him when players go and are not replaced with similar or better.
I was shot down in flames for saying similar things about the board after last season but the truth is the writing was on the wall the moment we lost MacCallum and Yates at the same time as freeing up a wad of cash by dispensing of the costly Constable and Creswell. Success and stability has to come from the top and clearly Stewart stuck a few loyal employees in charge to keep things ticking over whilst he keeps his options open. This is an insult to the supporters who pay their hard earned cash to support a club with no ambition and who are going nowhere unless it is down.
Forget the "Names on paper Bullsh1t" It is time for Stewart to make up his mind, come back and finish what you started or sell the club to someone who does not treat the club as a sidelined rich mans toy.
