I really detect more than a hint of deterioration amongst our "support". Crowds ARE down..the lads have stopped singing (what's left of them)..hardly any talk on here or other social media. I don't miss any home games, but I know a fair few stalwarts of past seasons that certainly don't bother midweek anymore.
I truly believe our club is on a downward spiral and don't see it ending soon.

That was one of the bad things about getting knocked out the Trophy. Pretty much killed the season. OK there are still points to play for and we could come 9th or 19th, but barring something very strange indeed we will be in this league next season.
Hoping next season we will be in better shape & have a good changearound of the squad.
Last of the "Stewart Donald" signings has gone and we made quite quid from our cup run, hopefully some will be left over.
Hoping we will make a push for the top 7 next season, but still a long way to go before we can really start to think about that.

Its the performances that kill home support, the away guys, that is the old Guard and the noisy boys on their mini bus, go away and see better games. If we could just have the first half against Woking and the second half against Fylde, now that would be a proper game of football, well from our perspective anyway. Mr Strevens has to recreate that and fire them up , oh and playing 4.4.2 would help the players know their roles, and what and where they are supposed to be

There's a £77,000 prize pot for just getting to the final. Once we were knocked out of the FA Cup - where we made a six-figure sum - the Trophy could have been another money spinner for us with so many of the National League Clubs going out in the early rounds.

I think that with crowds having doubled over the last few years it was always going to be a challenge to maintain attendances at the same level.
As for home games it is perhaps worth mentioning that Notts County are the only National League team to have lost fewer home league game than us and I also think we have won every cup game played on home soli. It is true that we have been the draw experts on our own patch, but I would say from the matches that I have seen that have ended all square we have been the more likely team to win the contest in the second half.

unknownquantity, your statement also suggests we’ve been poor in the first half of most games at home, which I would agree with. Tuesday was dire, the team looked like they didn’t care and didn’t want it against a poor Fylde side. We shouldn’t have to put up with trying to get something from the game in the second half nearly every game at home. My friend was on the verge of going home at ht Tuesday because the first half effort from EFC was so bad. Overall home performances haven’t been great and so the attendance will suffer, the crowd on Tuesday was a lot lower than the announced figure.

I do wonder though what effect the early injury on Tuesday had on matters. With Reda Johnson out of the picture, Rob Atkinson out injured and with Alex Wynter picking up an injury in the F A Trophy tie it was unfortunate that we lost another centre back early in the game. As I saw it we replaced the defender with a forward and played three at the back, one of whom was Michael Green who can often overlap as a full back to good effect.
If we had tried to regain our shape for 15 or 20 minutes following the enforced substitution, kept it tight and then pushed on from there it is unlikely that we would have a two goal deficit to overturn in the second half.
I think that absence of defenders has been a problem at times this season and at Hartlepool there was only two recognised defenders in the team. It therefore makes sense in my view to sign another defender on loan as we have done.
