Since it is fair to say that young players are having more of an impact this season is the fact that we have a person on our management team namely Jason Bristow with experience of working with young players a significant factor in this?
I think it is also fair to say that neither Ian Baird or Richard Hill was renowned for bringing young players into the equation and I think the policy for the last couple of years has been to try and get into the football league and then worry about youth.
Interesting to note that a few years ago when there was a scheme to introduce some young players alongside eight senior players the person with a good track record of working with younger players left the club soon after joining the management. The scheme did not produce the benefits from the younger players that had been hoped for, and had to replaced by a scheme of recruiting senior players on loan which did improve results, but I do wonder if the initial scheme would have better results if the person to whom I refer had stayed.
