ok, don't shoot me down here. but at some point the question puts itself outthere. poor form, losing games, not scoring goals. just wonder how long we give it?

Too early to be calling for the manager's head just yet but the summer recruitment has clearly not worked. Failure to sign an adequate striker is obvious. I said last season if the team struggle this board will be out of their depth to handle a crisis situation. If we lose again next weekend then we are certainly heading in that direction. I think the board would stick by Strevens at all costs when sometimes you have to be brave and make a change. Fingers crossed for a better result next Saturday.

Too simplistic a reaction to call for Strevs to go. There are 3 key needs that have to be met for a National League club to be successful -
1 money; 2 money; 3 money. EFC is trying to live within its means and its clearly going to be a struggle this term. Dumping Strevs and bringing in someone else doesn't change the bottom line.

Far too early to be thinking about this.
There are glaring deficiencies in the squad, as already discussed - basically replacements for Yeates (creative attacking midfielder - Payne has replaced him as a dead-ball specialist, but he plays further back) and McCallum (goalscorer). Not enough depth in the squad. Young players are promising but most won't be able to do it at NL level week in week out.
We need to sort this out PDQ, whether by loans or clever buys from lower leagues/FL clearouts. We also need to sort out our away form.
Last year Strevs took over mid-season, gained good expereince with Hess and led us to the play-offs and a penalty shootout away from the Wembley final. He deserves at least another season based on that, IMO, especially when they probably can't afford anyone else.
At home so far, I've seen a battling performance to beat Notts County, just down from the FL, and a battling stalemate against a pretty cynical Sutton side. Yes, we appear to have been cr*p away (what are we doing differently away?), and the lack of goals needs to be sorted. With the forwards we have two good holdup players (Rendell and Barnett) plus Williamson, who won't score 20+ a season. We need someone else. What we can afford depends on the budget (I'm not privy to that). I'm sure they're looking at this.
On paper we ought to get some points from our next two home games, Dag and Red next Sat and Barnet. Anything on BH Monday at Solihull would be a total bonus.
I'd say let's look around October - if we're still bottom four then maybe ask the question again. We still need stability this season, with reduced budgets we need to have reduced expectations, as I've said before. Mid-table with a possible play-off charge should be possible.

I don't think this post is going to help Ben when he reads this, all it will do is give a young manager added pressure.
As someone said our budget has been cut and the simple fact is the players that have left haven't been replaced by the same quality in my opinion. Ben will be ok as long if he keeps to his game plan and work ethic .

Overreactions ! Yeah let’s get rid of the manager! Let’s get in another manager who we can’t afford! He then wants his own players which we can’t afford!
Remember Martin Allen !

I do agree but if we are in the bottom 4 after 10 games? No sentiment in football. Can the club afford not to be in National League is more of the question.

That’s totally different after 10 games , but it’s not 10 games it’s 5 games and a couple of those games we should have won.

Really??? Its the players we have that is not good enough the strikers we got are PAST IT and so is DANNY HOLLANDS and I can't see him being dropped being our captain. Most of the football games I've seen we played some decent stuff just haven't got the clinical strikers. We waited a few years to get a 20+ goal striker then he goes and leaves on a free.

Interestingly enough three years ago the club sacked Chris Todd after four games due to the results of his expensively assembled and looking back with all the managerial upheaval that followed there was a very good chance that we would have ended higher up the table if Todd had stayed.
Money is important at this level of football, but I do not think that Macclesfield had the biggest budget when they won the league in 2017/18 and several teams have reached the playoffs with moderate budgets. Having a good youth policy, a good team spirit and players who are loyal to the club can reduce the amount you need to spend. How you make use of the money is important.
I think that one of the reasons we reached the playoffs was we had a settled side and I think that in recent seasons we have at times changed things too quickly both on and off the pitch even if there have been many good things done at the club as well.

Ah yes HorsyMcHorseface, a much missed "Private Frazer" character on this board. We're doomed we're doomed! Hopefully he has taken my advice, and now goes on walks in the countryside on Saturdays rather than watch "turgid" Eastleigh performances.

spitfire9 - your post pretty much sums up the start we’ve made and the way we’re playing. Lack of creativity, slow going forward and a one dimensional strike force all the wrong side of 30.

I also have a worry about how much Reda can contribute. When he's fit, he's immense, but a 46-game season is beyond him, and it needs others to step up at dead-balls. And yes, agree; it now needs the loan of a striker; the equivalent of Stryjek and Southwood last season - but this time at the other end.
