An announcement in the last hour on BBC News that there will be a strike of RMT staff from Friday 30 August to Monday 2 September. Almost all services to Eastleigh and Southampton Airport are expected to be affected with the exception of Cross-Country services (via Reading) to the latter.

As this is the first time I read about this I welcomed being told as I intended to use the trains on the day itself. I expect that a fair enough of home supporters would travel by train as if even they were car drivers then not driving allows them to have a drink or two or three and for some people living in the Borough of Eastleigh or City of Southampton train is the most convenient form of public transport.
I know that when Eastleigh play in London a lot of the fans travel by train and make a day of it and I expect that London fans travelling to Eastleigh do similarly.
