Stewart was certainly listening to the wrong advice when he entrusted the club's fortunes and reputation to our statistically worst performing manager. It's bad enough having a poor manager. It's a disaster if you give a bad manager the unchecked freedom to spend your money and allow him to dish out long term contracts to mercenary opportunists. I often wonder who gave that wrong advice. Who was Stewart listening to? Why did he think whoever it was, that he was listening to, had a clue?

In our first season in the National League Barnet under Martin Allen won the title and were the leading scorers in the division. At the time he was appointed Barnet were just outside the playoff places in League 2. I think that a manager who could achieve promotion from the National League and perform well following this promotion would have been an attractive proposition for Stewart at the time.
However I think that many of us can find examples of managers and players achieving what you would like to achieve while with another club and recruiting them on that basis and for whatever reason it not working out.
His move clearly did not work out well for Eastleigh or Barnet.

His move clearly did not work out well for Eastleigh or Barnet. In fact 2016/17 could have been our finest. Ronnie Moore had produced a record of Played 22 Won 11, Drawn 7, Lost 4 and if we could have continued under his reign, then a Top 3 or Top 4 finish was on the cards. The ultimate "what if" for EFC.
Today our league record is Played 26, Won 11, Drawn 7, lost 8

a lot of poor signings were made in the summer of 2016 under an inexperienced manager in chris todd, currently struggling in the league below with gloucester

I think that the information about Ronnie Moore maybe a bit misleading. Three of the victories I expect were in cup games, two of them against lower league opposition.
Ronnie made a very good start to his Eastleigh career with I think 17 points from the first 7 league games. However I believe that the last 6 league games of his reign yielded 5 points and a goal difference of -6 which would have been below the expectations at the time.

Stewart Donald made some serious mistakes when in charge. The two biggest were appointing Chris Todd in the first place, and allowing him to spend a fortune in the Summer, only to sack him a few games into the following season. IMO everything stems from that. Hopefully we are now starting to put that behind us.

John Still has left the job as Barnet manager so MA could go back again there for spell number 6, I don't think it would suprise anyway if it happened.

I am not sure whether appointing Chris Todd was that disastrous in itself. When he took over the team had only obtained 1 points from their last 5 league games and many people did not expect reach the playoffs. His initial results were very good and in the end 7th position was achieved. You could also argue that in the season he was sacked we started the season no worse than we did the current season and we are now on the fringe of the playoff positions.

His gross over spending was certainly disastrous. I just think the job was too big for him, at the time. Sure he started the season well, but he finished the season poorly and started the following season poorly. For what was spent that team under produced. Not blaming Chris Todd, but am blaming SD, and to be fair he did acknowledge that.

I think that in 2015/16 it was poor results in February that cost us. We recovered quite well after that, but it was not quite enough to earn a playoff place. The following season Chris was sacked after getting 4 points from 4 games, although you could possibly argue that we were a bit unlucky in the two games we lost.
I think that two years ago Stewart described a person with an influential role regarding player contracts at the club as a hard working guy with a lot of contacts. I think it is very unlikely that he sees that individual in the same light now.
I believe that the nature of the contracts that players were given that has been the problem.. I think that any manager needs to identify the players they want and if the people negotiating the player's contract arrange deals that are not necessarily in the club's best long or short term interests then I think it creates problems no matter who the manager is.

Todd was the cheap option and what the fans wanted just like Strevens.
At first they all play for these managers and bother to turn up then once Todd/Strevens got the job players was not interested they know there place is secure. The players we have need Managers with experience and not afraid to have a go. You ever hear Todd shout on the touchline you ever hear strevens??
But let's see how strevens gets on ohh wait a minute....

The fact that everyone has wildly differing opinions should shine light on the fact that nobody has any clue on what they are doing at this club.

The fact that everyone has wildly differing opinions should shine light on the fact that nobody has any clue on what they are doing at this club. One might argue the same is true of the country then. But I don't think the logic of your argument stacks up. You'll see differing opinions at clubs throughout the land - does it mean no one knows anything in football?
