I meet regularly with the club and in my most recent catch up Kenny, Tom and I spoke about how we can get info out to the fans in the absence of fans forums etc and perhaps answer some of the questions and complaints that pop up on Social Media. Hopefully also clear up some of the confusion about why the club has done certain things. We also spoke about how in the future we can use these catch ups to continue answering fan questions. Below is a list of the info that came up in conversation.
What’s Happening with the website, being down and why do we not put everything on the website?
Firstly, apologies for the Club Website for being down, this was due to work being carried out for the New Online Club shop which is planned to be ready for the start of the 2018/2019 season. In future we will ensure that any planned down time is known beforehand.
I know a lot of fans have expressed their views regarding important news and announcements perhaps only going on Twitter. Anything important will be announced on the Main Eastleigh FC site as well Social Media.
Fans have criticised the Club for always being slow to announce details such as the Ebbsfleet game. The club couldn’t announce anything until the league gave the go ahead. Ebbsfleet just jumped the gun and released it before it had all been cleared. Regarding release of players or signings again we only release when the league has agreed the paperwork etc. When the other club involved announces or Solent its that again they have gone early. We work hard on agreeing with all parties a release time so we all do it at the same time.
What is happening about supporters travel next season?
We are very mindful of the issues we have encountered this season and we will be reviewing all aspects of away travel next season, we will look at costs, pick up points, facilities offered (disabled access and toilets) We will talk to our existing provider as well as looking at other options.
What else is going on?
We have one year remaining on our deal with Macron our 3rd kit will stay for a second year, but we will be introducing a new Home and Away kit for the new season. We will launch this alongside new training and casual wear some time end of June Early July instore and online.
For the near future the club’s Eastleigh in the community scheme is to become a registered charity, if we gain league status we would have to take this step anyway so it make sense to be prepared. It helps us generate better funding to support our community schemes such as Pan disability and walking football, our aim will be to bring football to all and to raise the clubs profile locally and potentially employ further people in our community programme.
You may have heard the club has recruited Basingstoke’s head of youth Jason Bristow to work alongside Luke Hardy in our youth section, this is to grow our youth set up and create pathways. Our Scholarship education programme has around 40 scholars at present and it is hoped to increase the figure to around 100. Jason will also support growing our Academy numbers, boys, girls and ladies. We are also currently in talks to bring the Eastleigh Juniors into the club set up, they currently play in the local Tyro leagues and play under our badge. We hope by bringing them closer to the club we can identify young talented footballers as well as hopefully supporting their coaches and making them feel part of the Eastleigh family.
With the recent debate about who scored the goal against Wrexham Stack or Cresswell? People have been asking why we didn’t post the highlights after the game? To answer the question, it is because there is a league agreement that highlights cannot be published until after the BT Sport highlights show has aired.
The Club have had a very successful launch to the new Sherwood’s building events and hospitality have been going very well, they are looking to push the restaurant to make it as successful as the carvery with that in mind they are asking for volunteers to distribute flyers and posters advertising Sherwood’s. I would appreciate anyone who can take any to get in contact with me direct.
As you can see TSSC and the Football Club are working more closely together and one of the main aims is to try and answer any queries, any questions, any thoughts and pass information to you, from what you have read above I think you will see there is an awful lot happening.
If you have any questions for the Club please raise them on TSSC forum or send an email to efcspitfires@gmail.com under the heading Questions for the club. It is intended regular meetings will take place with Kenny Amor and Arthur Woolley.
