Quite an even first half in horrible conditions, but Maidstone were the better team after the break and should have won by more.
When we passed the ball on the ground we looked quite good, but in the second half, as the wind got worse, we played the ball in the air too much and made it easy for the opposition.
Defence looked OK until the last few minutes, I thought, and Stack made some good saves. Beano up front with McSheffery didn't work. Hollands and Matthews played pretty well as usual but I didn't think Miley had a particularly good game. Yeates tried hard again and was good in the first half.
Both teams tried to play football and we looked more positive than in some previous games. RH tried to be more attacking with his subs but once Maidstone had got the goal, they looked comfortable. They looked a decent side, and their fans gave good backing too.
Not the result we had hoped for - I know we've had a lot of injuries, but I'm not sure RH knows what his best side is yet. Amazingly there are only 4 points between positions 1 and 14 in the league tonight! We're still only 5 points off the playoffs - and 4 points off the bottom four. Fylde should be another testing game on Saturday.
I was expecting nothing more than a mid-table season, with RH expected to steady the ship. He's sort of doing that, but it seems some people are expecting more...... wonder what SD was expecting?

That was just simply awful, wet and thoroughly miserable. Its 10 games in now and are we promotion contenders? You are having a laugh. I wonder what this weeks excuse from Hill will be? No doubt it'll be the 'torrential weather conditions'. We only need to weather the storm (excuse the pun) until 11th November when Hess will take charge after the traditional post Dover game sacking (well - relieving of managerial duties). You heard it here first! We're AWAY to Dover on Nov 11th - the traditional manager sacking is always after the HOME Dover match, and that's not until March 10th! Will you be able to wait that long? ;-)

There's no doubt I shall continue to attend and support the lads, despite the results and the style of play. I love the club and am as frustrated as everyone else but something is needed to bring the passion back and I just wish we had the old atmosphere back at the Silverlake. Demoralised fans = demoralised players sadly.

Missed first 3 games due to holiday, so far can only judge the last two. Boy it's dire and I haven't seen a shot on goal yet. Defence looks steady and Stack was outstanding tonight, but where are the goals going to come from, a long hard season ahead I'm afraid, well it could be worse, I could be watching Saints.

Agree with most of the comments. That style of football is ok if you're winning games but to keep turning up and not seeing us score is demoralising. It's definitely making me have second thoughts about travelling to away games! But yeah also agree we don't want to start changing management, mccallum looked really good in preseason so let's hope when the injuries clear up some goals will start flowing.

Tranmere lost, Orient lost, Dagenham lost, Dover lost, I think we were in good company. What's more, Sutton are top again, whose for the Eastleigh old boys? Bring back Doswell?? 😮😮

"Quite an even first half in horrible conditions, but Maidstone were the better team after the break and should have won by more."
With a 50 mph wind behind them in the second half that wasn't a surprise. What was disappointing was the fact we didn't utilise the conditions to our advantage in the first 45 minutes. When the football gods give you such a chance you really must take it, but we seemed to be unable to adapt our play to do so, and never seriously bothered their defence.

Looking at the rain, it looked as if the wind was more swirling rather than being in one direction. I didn't really see the ball travelling much faster towards the Eastleigh goal in the second half, apart from one hoof by a defender that went very high and came back towards him a few yards. But I agree that we should have done better in the first half, and the amount of time the ball was in the air in the second half didn't look very clever. That's where your 'unable to adapt' sounds particularly appropriate. Same against ten-man Aldershot in the second half.

Last night he changed it and we didn't play long ball we passed through and played some excellent football, I don't agree with the negative comments, if we get our attack working then I think we can be a good team, Williamson injured is our best player up there, but he needs new attackers for sure, the others just not good enough!

100% do not want Hill to go, no denying though that Aldershot and Maidstone were two truly awful games of football. Over 90 minutes Maidstone were comfortably the better team and 3-0 would not have flattered them. I was looking for mid table this season and still expect to achieve that. I can see no evidence that we will be anywhere near the top places.

After last season's chaos, we can't keep changing manager. I'd settle for mid-table this season and then go for a big push next season.
RH and Hess are not the pairing to take us forward beyond mid-table, so at some point we'll need a change - but at the end of the season this time please.
My slight worry is that the way we're playing, a couple more defeats could see us drop towards the danger zone. I really, really hope I'm wrong.
