With regards to people walking down Stoneham Lane my view is that pedestrians should take responsibility to watch out for cars rather than rely on cars to see them which clearly is better done by facing the traffic.
Actually I believe there is a yellow line on both sides of the road. If people aimed to be the other side of the yellow line or as close as possible to it when a car is passing it would I think make things easier for them.

pedestrians to watch out for cars, yes - but also cars to watch out for pedestrians, probably even more so. from govt website on road safety "You must also give way to pedestrians if there is a danger of colliding with them, even if there is no marked pedestrian crossing."
if a driver hits and seriously injures a pedestrain -even if they believe they accident to be largely or entirely not their fault - they there is a very good chance they will have their license taken away for a period or even do a custodial sentence. When driving along a road which contains pedestrains on it, check your speed & always be ready to break sharply

Cheers for the responses Spitfires. I understand the problems in access/egress, it's just that the stewards were a bit, erm ... uncommunicative about it. Anyway: www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4MNPN-AYe0For the highlights Good luck with getting up into the big leagues. You can easily do it. pommpey
