Luke has signed for Ebbsfleet. Showed plenty of promise for Eastleigh before his head got turned by talks of him being the next Jamie Vardy!!

blimey that's a bit of a strange one! Didn't see him moving back to non league at this stage.
We got quite a decent fee for him, might turn out to have been a good bit of business for us

Should we have had a clause added to the sale to have first refusal on re-signing Luke? Hard to believe his career is already on its way down when he showed so much promise. Only 12 months ago.

Would have been virtually impossible to have such a clause that both Barnet & Eastleigh both agreed on.
We did have a sell on fee so assume we made a fee quid out of it. Presumably ebbsfleet paid a fee for him?!

It's a shame we didn't got in for him!! And If we did it's a worry that he chose Ebbsfleet over us!

MA got everything right except the relentless fall towards relegation. If you had given him a set of league players I doubt if he could have procured a result. Great manager in his time and we should respect that and it might be best to leave it at that than to pretend there were many positives about his time at Eastleigh. As for Luke Coulson, the main problem as I saw it at the time we had him at Eastleigh was that his name was inevitably followed by the comment "he won't be with us for long". That seemed to apply in conversation, on the forum and on social media.Well how about that for a self fulfilling prophecy? I have my own assessment of Luke as a player and I think he was a super player for us. I can imagine how he has ended up at Ebbsfleet and he will do well for them. I do not however think we are missing an opportunity in not signing Luke, much as I admire what he did while we had him.

Wow if anyone had said this time last year that Coulson and Drury would be at Ebbsfleet together I would have wondered where it was all going to go wrong for us.

And we might wonder if it's Drury who got them to take Luke? But they are yesterday's men and we have to look to our future.

We paid an "undisclosed fee" for Coulson. Would imagine a sell on clause would only apply if we paid Barnet more than they paid you. I can't imagine we will have paid much more - if indeed we paid more at all - so the chances are that it will only benefit you to a minimal amount if at all.

I thought Luke was an excellent player for us and it's a real shame it hasn't worked out for him at a higher level. Im not sure how much credit I'd give MA in selling him as I think it was almost certain Luke was moving on before he got here. Which of our rivals is Mandron going to end up at?

Serious question, because I thought his appointment was a great idea - but it all turned to sh*t very quickly. Hard to say with the Coulson move - Ebbsfleet are an ambitious club (but mid-table for me this season) and maybe McMahon was very persuasive. And Drury... Barnet fans seem to think he wasn't given a fair crack and there could be a good player under there, maybe he didn't end up fitting in there at the time. Here, I thought he showed flashes of brilliance and worked quite hard, but I agree that after receiving lots of praise, and the Vardy thing, his performances seemed to get worse. He also got a bad injury when kicked by that Halifax thug and that seemed to affect his form. Not sure how much of his loss of form was down to the management here at the time, too. Like Coulson, Mandron left us as someone with great potential but by no means 'the finished article'. He also may need to take a step back before going forward again.

Good player in his early days with us, then he started to believe the publicity and became distinctly ordinary. I suspect the coming season will be make or break for us. If he ignores all the nonsense, gets his head down, works bloody hard and is lucky with injuries, he could yet make it in the big time, if not, expect him to be playing for Havant in 1 or 2 years time.

Sometimes you have to ask yourself why these players float around the lower leagues, I think it's because of their mental attitude towards life, not quite there, but that's just my opinion xx💙
