Provided they stay within the play off positions and win, so fingers crossed

Would love to see them promoted and have a south coast derby, but it sounds like they have a lot more work to do if they do come up. We're very lucky to not have the same financial constraints as they do thanks to Stewart.

They were in the Wessex league as recently as 2011. Think their ground is some way off ours when we got promoted in 2014.
Be an amazing achievement on and off the pitch if they can get to the national league (and stay here!).

It would be great to have a south coast Derby next season (I for one, enjoyed playing them pre:season friendly this season) but I know the main objective for them is to stay in the Conf south based on ground issues - they deserve the promotion but they want to stay in the league they're in at present as a bare minimum. I hope they win the playoffs but are not relegated on 'technicalities'

Be wonderful to see them come up. However the only two clubs you can say deserve to go up are Maidenhead and Ebbsfleet, who have been light years ahead of everybody else this season. I think the Maidenhead story is truly remarkable. How they have kept hold of Dave Tarpey I don't know. If we could sign him, that would be a major boost ahead of the new campaign.

I agree with you on that Michael, if Dave Tarpey can score 40 odd goals in National South he can get loads in our league too, he would be ideal for Wilson up front too.

Dave Tarpey has been around for a few years & he's played against us many times in the NL South. I think his success is down to Alan Devonshire finding the right role for him & pushing the right "button" to get him to perform at a higher level. Having the right sort of players around him must have also helped.
I'm sure Maidenhead are part-time so maybe that suits him & maybe he doesn't want to go full-time. It'll be interesting to see how he does against us next season.

Would agree with those comments as well...I think having Marks alongside him has helped an awful lot, they both know where the goal is. If Maidenhead can maintain that 5 point cushion over Easter weekend before playing Ebbsfleet next week, they will only need to avoid defeat to win the title, who'd have thought that back in August, its a remarkable achievement if they manage it.

We had to add more seats under cover to get to the Conference South play-off in 2008/09 (against Hayes & Yeading) - which is why the rather odd seats behind the motorway end goal were put in (aka the "Library End") - we had it all in place by the March deadline date. Sorry, Poole, but you should have done it by now, too.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that a few years ago Maidenhead were in a position that if they reached the playoffs grounds issues meant that they would be unable to take part, so maybe things may have changed.
Dave Tarpey seems to have attracted the attention of football league clubs, but I am not sure that a player doing well in the National League South can replicate their success in the National League. Ben Wright has a good scoring record in the Conference South, but it does seem that whenever he plays for a club in a higher division he does not remain there very long.

Maidenhead can go up if they succeed in getting there, then they will have issues with the ground grading but have until March 31st 2018 to get the grade required. North Ferriby appeared to have not bothered to spend the money as they felt they would be relegated anyway...which means they now have that money to spend on the team for next season instead...isn't that a form of cheating? Maidenhead could follow a similar path, they need to find around £400k I believe to get the grade.

The ground grading rules are all known about at the start of the season. Every club has the right to comply or not and knows the consequences if they don't comply. Much though I would love to see Poole promoted, as the ground is at the moment, its barely better than it was when Paul Doswell came to Eastleigh, so I am not sure what grounds they have to appeal.
