He is to be investigated by the gambling commission to see if bets were placed for him to eat a pastry in the dugout. Lol

Whoever accepted those bets deserve to lose money! That's like betting on me not being at the game tonight!

Didn't know whether to laugh or cry at Sky News who spent 10 minutes this afternoon interviewing Dossie with faux horror, saying how terrible it was that SUFC had broken the rules when it was Sun Bets, who had come up as match and shirt sponsors, who had the idea in the first place.
My fear is that SUFC will be taken to the cleaners by football authorities who are happy to have their competitions sponsored by betting companies. Always struck me to be unwise.

I feel quite sad and annoyed about this.
Wayne Shaw is a nice guy and has done a lot for Sutton. They have also been very good for him in difficult times, and I hope he can keep on track despite leaving the club.
He should have kept his mouth firmly shut after this event; clearly he was a bit silly in what he did, but since he said he didn't actually put any money on it, and he wasn't going to play (they'd used 3 subs already) then where's the problem (yes, I know what the rules say)?
I agree, the FA should do something better with its time and football should be warned yet again that the Sun should be avoided at all costs.
This episode should not detract from a great performance by Sutton against a fairly strong visiting side. Unfortunately at the moment this seems to be the main headline.

Always has been and and always will be.

Got to love his sense of humor though in doing it. Certainly entertained everyone, making him famous at the age of 45!

Feel sorry for Wayne & Sutton, But if you play with fire you are going to burnt & they should've realized that when they got into bed with the S*n!
Personally, I think the S*n should be banned from all involvement in football for 5 years for their part in all this.

He was set to lose whatever. If he didn't eat the pie he influenced the bet and if he did he influenced the bet!! At least by eating it the bookie lost money, if he hadn't eaten it they would have pocketed all the stake money and he would have remained hungry!!
The bigger problem here is the creation of the bet in the first place which was only done to ridicule him and create publicity for the newspaper I can't bring myself to mention.

Certainly crazy that any bookmaker was allowed to take bets on something so daft.
Whats next, a spread bet on the number of pieces of chewing gum the 2 benches get though? Will the keeper take a sip from his drinks bottle in the 2nd half? Ridiculous.
Obviously Wayne Shaw has paid a big price in losing his job at Sutton (which I believe is his full time income as he gave up the ice creams a couple of years ago). Imagine he will get his job back when the furore has calmed down but at the moment he won't be feeling too great. He was in tears speaking to Doswell earlier (as mentioned by Doswell on the radio earlier in an interview).
I have suggested to a prominent Sutton fan that they could do a "just giving" or similar page to fundraise for WS & if anything comes of it will post the link up here.
