Admittedly I have only seen one game so far but I was thinking the (very early) signs are encouraging. 4 wins from 5 on the road is not bad (even against lesser opposition). We have scored plenty of goals & no significant injuries - as far as I know.
I think we now enter the second half of pre-season which are tougher games on paper so doubtless that will test us a little more before the proper stuff starts in 2 1/2 weeks.

I can't believe some of the utter sh1te i'm reading on here!!!!!
We have played a handful of pre season FRIENDLIES, trying out a few new players/tactics and building team work & fitness. We win a game 5-1 and yet we're being written off as no hopers!!!!
This is why I think all PSF should be played behind closed doors - they don't matter and obviously too many "fans" are too keen to base their opinion on the upcoming season on these meaningless results!

Not sure I was watching same game. I thought it was an entertaining match against a useful Weymouth side who tried to pass the ball around and had pace down both wings.
I have seen friendlies at Stoneham Banbury and Weymouth and although still early days I am very optimistic. We have 3 quick powerful centre backs in Obileye Essem and Dugdale and it would not surprise me if Toddy plays all 3 with Joe and Greener bombing forward from wing back.
In midfield we have strengthened with Howells (creative) and Pipe (competitive pocket battleship) and up front Wilson is quick sharp and never gives defenders any peace.
Last season there were times when the team did not seem up for it but with all action players like Pipe and Wilson in the side I cannot see this happening in 2016/17.
Similarly there were times last year when we were bullied out of it but this coming season should be totally different. A lot of the team are 6 feet plus so we should not only be strong in the air defensively but also a massive threat in the opposition box at set pieces.
In the squad we now have Ryan Huddart who towers over all our players and must surely be the tallest goalkeeper in the National League. If he makes the team and all else fails he could be thrown up front if we are trying to salvage something in the last few minutes of a game?

I've not seen any games so far, but am convinced we are rubbish neither CT or SD have a clue what they are doing. Its going to be sooooo boring. I am going to leave after 6 minutes of the Guiseley game, so certain am I that we won't win. In fact I have us down to be relegated. SD will be off, we will be bankrupt within 2 years, we will start again in Junior Division 5 playing at Riverside Park, with an average gate of 2. But I will be one of those 2. Never mind it could be worse, we could be Newcastle fans!

People who saw the games at Banbury and Weymouth are entitled to form their own opinion, but I think it is rare for an away victory against a team two divisions lower by a margin of two or more goals to lead to any feelings of negativity. I may be wrong, but I did not think there was very much negativity when we won at Stourbridge last season.
On another issue I think that although Ross Bottomley might not have been the most technically gifted player, his 100% commitment and his willingness to play in any position made him popular with the fans while at Eastleigh, and he certainly in my view has the experience to do still well in the Southern League South and West division.

Lol some would have been trying to decide which eight players to put in their Fantasy Spitfire team and others attempting to guess what the first team line up will look like so scrutiny of the players will evidently be taking place among many fans!! Love your post though :-)

Just reading jiarightboot I think we have the making of a good team but yes I agree with you I would have taken a chance on Carmichael they were saying on the gosport twitter what a great goal he scored against Woking and apparently had a hand in two of their goals today as he makes runs in behind defences
