Interesting run out and cant read much into the result or the performance as it was all about fitness, but personally think you can read a lot about a player in this type of game. I dont mean fitness, played well etc, but you can just see things in players in how their footballing brain works and what they are trying to achieve and that come naturally. Im going to stick my neck on the line as dont think im a bad read of player. Mark Childs looks a very competent keeper. For a young lad he looked very confident in himself and looks assured in his ability. Scott Wilson will be a real big asset. His movement is very good across the front of defenders and can see him really suiting Jai's game. Jack Smith will never get a full first team league game for Eastleigh in this league going forward. Sorry, but his game reading looks poor to me and he tries to hide his short comings by being a talker. Tony Lee is not a Todd player and wont get much game time. He reminds me a bit of Ben Wright in that he is a natural finisher, but its the rest of his game that lacks identity. He is a box player and that wont suit Todd. Will be right at the back of the queue when it comes to strikers. His finishing in the warm ups was top notch and will forgive the penalty He has filled out as well which is a good thing for him as looks a lot stronger than was. Adam Dawson reminds me of Fleetwood and Im going to say will drive many nuts come the end of the season. Not my cup of tea on first impressions. Josh Carmichael stood out like a sore thumb. He will be another Lawson D'ath who we will regret not capturing. We would do well to snap him up early. Rest of the trialists wont be of interest. Stoneham could do with a lawnmower and those yellow kits for us were awful Looked like just got off the shelf and were about 3 sizes too big for everyone.

Carmichael was the stand out tonight for me too. Scott Wilson also looked good and will trouble a lot of defences this season. Agree with you on the keeper too, good to see a young lad take control so well and good save from the spot.

Won 2-0 with goals from Scott Wilson & Yemi Both sides missed pens Mark Childs did a very good job of saving that penalty. Liked the look of Adam Dawson and also thought young Jack Masterton had a good game. The players were playing in the ladies kit apparently as the new kit is being unveiled on Saturday. Very confusing when all the squad numbers were wrong and players had different numbers on their shirts to their shorts!! Anyone know what the attendance was (or who the Portsmouth fans with the flag behind the goal were)??

Jack Smith has already had a few league appearances for us a few years ago. Josh Carmichael looked very bright indeed,Dawson will be a real asset and Jack Masterton looks very capable.

Crowd estimate from one of the groundhoppers was approx 300.
Not bad considering the price and strength of squad we put out.

The kit was at least 4 years old? Probably 3rd choice kit from the Blue Square South days. Why not get maximum usage out of it?
