Why would he want to catch me? He is a lump of lard, he walked to take his penalty at Wembley yesterday then run ten yards behind the goal, stopped running as he was puffed out. He's 35 next birthday, overweight, and would only last twenty minutes in a game before tiring. Save yer money SD there's far better value out there!!

Akinfenwa can bench press 200kg (32 stone) so I am thinking most of that is muscle rather than fat!
Even the 2 clearly overweight players in this league had pretty decent games against us last season :-(

Having suggested that we should market ourselves as 'The Beasts', I obviously agree with this. However, I think he should pay us to play rather than the other way round because the boost it would give his 'brand' (which is, after all, his retirement present) would be immeasurable. Good publicty for us if we did sign him too.
Seriously though, he might be able to do a job for us for a season or so, at least he's a strong target man who can hold the ball up, like McAllister, who a lot of us miss. Not sure whether Craig would like to be compared with Akinfenwa though ;-)
As for Jack Midson, Margate wanted to sign him a couple of years ago under Terry Brown. They've already signed Elliott Buchanan, who someone here wanted us to sign. I'm sure he and Jack would do well together at that level.

In fact there are at least two well known strikers who are known as the Beast.

'In fact there are at least two well known strikers who are known as the Beast.'
Yes, but there's only one who has a clothing label called Beast Mode, and who wore a T-shirt advertising it when he was interviewed after the play-off final. That's why I (tongue-in-cheek) said he should pay to play for a team nicknamed the Beasts.
I agree if we signed him we'd play a long-ball game (even more). I like Rhead, he's not just a big lump who can head it, but again having him would dominate our tactics, like it did Lincoln's last season. It's ironic that someone who got 20 league goals last season is now on the transfer list, presumably because he doesn't fit in with the new management's style of playing. Barrow, apparently, were interested... but maybe not now, having signed a couple of strikers.
As for pace, we've had a couple of players who have been brought in for their speed. Fanimo was supposed to be one of the fastest around, and strike fear into opposition defences. Is the jury still out on him? Creative players - yes, we could so with some more of those too. And get Jai back to his old form. He's our biggest matchwinner when he's firing on all cylinders.

CT is defensive minded, setting up not to lose first and foremost, same as RH was. Playing this way our two seasons in this league has yielded 82 and 75 points, therefore it's clearly not enough to win the title. Solid three signings so far but nothing that makes me think those extra 15 points will be found. Two top notch strikers still required with pace, and another creative player in midfield to unlock defences. I'm thinking CT may set up a team for counter attacking football so pace is vital in our strikers, defence to midfield and let them find the strikers, not long ball from defence cos we'd lose possession of the ball 90% of the time while trying to get the second ball. Let's play it out from the back and play high tempo with and without the ball. Be fearless and all that can only come from the Manager and the tactics he demands we play. However when all said and done if we don't get two quality strikers the title will be a non starter with what we have....we wait and see who comes in.

Spirit RH defensive? Which team was it that had the most amount of goals scored and conceded in RH's first season in the National league. We were classed as the most entertaining team as we had more goals scored and conceded in all top 5 divisions! RH was not defensive we let in too many goals - a point Sattsy continually raised but we scored loads as well. Think it was pretty entertaining to be fair. Lets see what Toddy does next year don't think he will be as defensive but time will tell.
