Are we failing to get a quality striker because of the JC factor? Why talk that he got 19 last season when we're talking about the title and PO's.....he got 14 league goals with 5 of those in the first six games. Cup goals are a bonus....Golden Boot awards are for League games only, that's what a striker is judged on, goals in cup games don't bring you any points in the league so he got 14.

Not wishing to be pedantic but........ according to my figures on this forum, compiled after every game, Beano scored 15 league goals, 1 in the FAT & 1 in the FA Cup making 17. Not sure where other figures quoted on this thread come from, but I stand by those statistics. If it makes any difference..............

For a bloke who works his nuts of for this club every time he steps on the pitch, a bloke who is already contracted to us for next season, and a bloke who will be pivotal to our season, how about shutting up and giving the bloke a bit of slack. I hope if he sees all this negativity, it inspires him to shove it all down your throats. I love you anyway Beano LONG MAY YOU REIGN.

Beautifully put SS and bang on the money. We want the best for EFC and we all have views that vary. I would not be the type if things do not work with JC to say '"Told you" as I would be disappointed if it harmed our season. SD believes we need JC in our team and my question on the JC factor was about that support being on a public forum for all to see.....did it have any effect on Andy Cook for example, any striker thinking of coming here? Will he continue to play if he is not scoring.....one in his last 11 games before his operation is not good enough at any level.

Hardly fair to compare my comments on CT to others on JC. For me the debate about Todd is over. He is staying I support him 100%. All I am saying is given that JC is staying (which I assume he is), lets just stop the negativity and start supporting him.

Jon-Paul Pittman has been released by Grimsby. Worth a look?
Grimsby have also released Danny East and Craig Clay , who were also good members of their squad last season.
EDIT: Pittman has just signed for Harrogate.

SS I believe there are plenty of people who agree with you on Matt Tubbs and Jai Reason but you just might not see most of them posting on here.
I also totally agree with you re the debating nature of the forum, but as with most forums probably >70% of comment tends to be in the negative zone, somewhere between unhappy and spitting feathers.

...or >70% of the posts on here are just people giving an opinion with no axe to grind and are saying what they see, without a care in the world who they might upset/offend/piss a player or the manager off. You could say that <70% on here don't like straight talk and want all posters to toe the company line. Anything that doesnt toe the company line is seen as negative or disruptive. I knwo that in my posts and opinions on Beano, im not spiting feathers, im just stating i dont think the fella scores enough goals to warrant a starting place in our team. Hes had 2 seasons already and hasnt done it in either season, so not sure why we are still considering him as our main striker. There is alot better around, especially with the money that we are chucking about. In that 2 years, we havent found a single striker who can play alongside him & score goals along the way, so as i have said before, maybe it was time to look elsewhere and try a different/new pairing. He's signed on, so i'll get behind him, but i get behind him knowing that he isnt good enough & wont score 25 goals, and i find it difficult to process a game, when i want my team to be the best they can be. We can be better without him, imo. Its rather like everyone knowing that Englands front 2 are better without Rooney included, but when Woy picks him, you have to get behind & support Rooney, but knowing that Vardy & Kane would be better and would score more goals....

The Rooney analogy is a great analogy. I think both Vardy and Kane are great players, but will they ever score the number of goals Rooney has done for England? And this summer if Rooney starts, as a striker I bet his goals ration will compare favourably with the other two. On that one we won't have long to wait to find out! You may not be surprised to know that I think Rooney has been very harshly dealt with by the media. Anybody would think he hasn't done very well for England.

I think Rooney is a good player, but there are now better players at least in the striker roles than him. Vardy will never score as many England goals as Rooney, as he's 29 and doesn't have 10 years ahead of him in an England shirt that Rooney has had. But Kane could come close, if he is deemed as our no.1 striker for the next 8-10 years. Rashford could also come close, if he is an established England striker by the age of 20 (2 years time), by which time Vardys time may have come and gone and Rashford could partner Kane upfront for many years. When all said and done, you really have to be an established England No.9 for a 10 year period to get 50 international goals for England. Not many strikers have that longevity with our national side. I think when it comes to our opening game against Russia, you will see Rooney play in behind Kane & Vardy at the top of a diamond 4 man midfield, and that for me, has always been Rooney's best position. Same position we should employ Jai Reason in...

He's been the leading scorer in competitive games for years as Greaves & Charlton scored 80% of their goals in 'meaningless' friendlies. Rooney has 5 goals in 6 games at the Euros & lit up the first Euro tournament (forget the year) before breaking his foot. He was bullied into turning up at one World Cup having not kicked a ball for months and half fit! Let his country down badly in EVERY tournament - completely unfair & a lazy throw away comment. And breathe.........

Constable is a brilliant debate. Obviously our chairman bought him and continues to show faith.
I see the bigger problem as the manager. I just don't think he will get the best out of these players & don't think he's strong enough to demand the players he wants, I'm not even sure he knows what he wants - is it a target man to play with JC, so what was Tubbs all abouts? You'll tell me it's not Todd's team. I'd say, he was assistant to the previous manager & would have said he could of got this side in the play offs prior to getting the job. Likewise, Jai was average last year and an average Jai makes an average, uninteresting EFC.
Personally I think Constable could shoot us to promotion, but it's all about those around him and the formation and tactics & I don't see that changing
