Nothing wrong with that. If you have lost confidence and dont think he gets you through the play offs then what is the point in keeping ? You just as well make a change to try and kick back into form. If your not going to keep next season, regardless if up or down (sounds like that) then do what you need to do to give yourself maximum chance now.
If they go up, its a masterstroke, they dont, can say he was going anyway.

A poor relationship with the players is being cited elsewhere.

Having approached Burr in the past to be turned down I wonder if there is any mileage in them doing this now to go to him now before someone else takes him ?

If they get the bounce a new face often brings, they'll be in the football league, before you can say what about Richard hill.

I don't see many queuing up for Burr...he's been out of work for 3 weeks and nothing doing.. Pennock and Burr will both get jobs back in football, but neither will go to clubs that were above the teams they were sacked from. I suspect Burr will drop down a level, but Pennock will stay at this level. Pennocks no.2 at FGR is the interesting one for me.

Seems like the pressure got to him, came out with some strange comments at post-match interviews recently. Add to that losing the dressing room rapidly, apparently.... Will be interesting to see whether a new man at the helm will give them a boost for the playoffs or have the opposite effect. Some FGR fans hoping that Mark Cooper (ex-Swindon, currently at Notts County until end of season) might take over. Even if it's just for the playoffs. Worth a look if he doesn't. I'll mention again Graham Westley as another one to look out for. And then there's always: www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/14456202.Beattie_ready_for_a_new_challenge/Sattsy - agree, Jamie Day might be one to watch too. Did well at Welling, but Eastleigh might be too big for him at the moment.

I meant JD could come here as a coach, not as a manager.

Hard to say if he'd want a coaching role, having already been a manager at this level, albeit only for one season.
He took the assistant role at FGR, but then he did knw Ady Pennock from Welling (sorry, just seen you've added that below as I was editing this post).

I guess he took the FGR role because at least it was a job that kept him in football & i believe he had worked with Pennock before. There are plenty of managers & coaches who are either sacked or leave a football club for other reasons, who then find themselves out of the game for a long period of time. Take Richard Hill.....I would have put money on it that clubs would have been throwing themselves at him, to get him on board, but that's not been the case at all. I know that JD has been considered as a potential EFC manager/coach in the past. So i think there could be mileage in that one.

I don't think there's too much of a mystery here.
Forest Green have an info placard by the side of the pitch near the "tunnel". This boasts of how the pitch is grown and maintained naturally without any artificial pesticides or fertilizers etc. etc. They tell you how their worms and so on do the job for them.
Ady Pennock recently complained he had a problem with the pitch.
That's like kind of professional suicide in the parallel universe that is Forest Green.

Be interesting to see where Beattie turns up next.
I've always assumed he applied for the Eastleigh job back in September.
Surely we would have applied?
