I bust a gut to get to the game Saturday as I had other things on. Saw it from 15 minutes in and left 15 minutes before the end.
Might stir some emotions here but Saturday was pathetic. Yes I am angry. I was all set to go to Woking but if the players can't be arsed for a game like that, when a win would've put us in the play offs depending on Braintree's result, then nor can I. Eastleigh's failings this season is that regardless of the opposition, when it mattered they weren't up for it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ IMO with that attitude you are not better than the team you support. We are all frustrated but we need to get behind the team (especially on Saturday). You could always support Sutton who are Champions as we were 2 years ago. We have had a good 2 seasons and our time will come.
SD was also unhappy and frustrated after the whistle on Saturday. Thankfully i don't think he's not arsed to invest his money in the team.

Hundreds were walking down the road with 15 minutes left. To tell a fellow supporter to go support Sutton is well below the belt, he's entitled to his views and he is definitely a very emotional person when it comes to EFC because he really cares, truly, and he is frustrated. We all are, and most of us are disappointed for SD who always has a smile no matter how he feels inside.

I find this very hard to believe, is this really true, and if so why?

Its true, I was one of them...that's how I know. I left because the football was dreadful, I suspect everybody else shared the same thought.

We gave it a go but just came up short. Let's be honest, many have been saying for a while we would fall short, but it certainly wasn't from lack of trying.
Whether some think the manager needs to change, manager needs another season, players need to change, tactics need to change etc etc. I can honestly say some performances have just not been good enough, but has never been through lack of effort. The manager and players have given their all and why we came up short is in the eye of the individual, but it's not lack of effort.
People have busted a gut on and off the field since SD came here. I don't think you could ask for more effort.

'Hundreds were walking down the road with 15 minutes left'. (SOE)
'People have busted a gut on and off the field since SD came here. I don't think you could ask for more effort'. (SS)
What SS says is true. Clearly there are a lot of people who aren't true Eastleigh fans, if what SOE says is correct, and who probably aren't much into football either.
However poor the game, if Eastleigh had scored instead of Tranmere (and with 15 mins to go Wrexham-Braintree was still 2-2) they would still have been in with a good chance of the playoffs. And 'true' supporters would have been there to encourage their team until the end, not flounce off because they weren't entertained.
It was only in the 87th minute that Tranmere scored. We worked hard to match them until then, and it looked like a 0-0 until that fateful moment. Tranmere are still set up like a proper league team, with proper fans. As are Grimsby. Are we?

Many thanks for your fantastic support.
You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Never understood why people would leave early when the game is still in the balance, let alone the season, but each to their own, some people go to the game because it gives them something else to moan about, get angry about and generally make them more miserable. I go because it isn't the real world (it's much nearer then the complete pretence of the premier league) but it's a couple of hours a week where I can forget everything else and lose myself in the game, pretend I'm kicking every ball, go bloody mental if my team score and win and get fed up if they lose. But if they didn't lose I wouldn't get the buzz I do from them winning so you've got to have the downs to make the ups more special. Pretty sure that a lot of teams/supporters would swap our current down for theirs. Keep the Faith Spitfires 3 months till it all begins again!!

And we'll be there, new season new belief, excitement hopes and dreams as we do every season. If there is a summer of change so be it....I certainly hope so but we wait to see how the club responds to basically a poor season football wise. We have not moved on this season our progress has taken a knock, obviously I am arrogant to say we should have done better...we have a fantastic financial backer and he calls the shots, whatever he does I support the fella. He knows how we feels coz he has the passion too. I was surprised to see so many others leave as early as I did....I did not see us scoring and it did have 0-0 written all over a very dour game, and please Constable would not have scored either if had played.

I wasnt at the game, so cannot comment on how good/bad the team may have played om Saturday. I have to say i cannot recall ever leaving an EFC game before the final whistle and don't think i ever would, no matter what the score. BUT, football is an entertainment business, and if people are not being entertained, they are within their rights to walk out before the final whistle. Remember that in a crowd of 3,200, there will inevitably be a lot of "floating fans", who just come to see a game of football and be entertained. They probably dont really care who wins, they just want to see a great ga,e and if they feel that having paid £15 that the fare on show isn't worth waiting around to the end for, then so be it. I feel this season, when i have been to games, i've seen some great football by our lads & also very poor football too, but i feel as a fan of a club, i have to take the rough with the smooth. You really cannot expect breathtaking stuff each week. Things have grown so quickly at Eastleigh under SD's stewardship, and i think that sometimes we all forget just where we are in the footballing pyramid. Operating at the top end of the National League is fantastic, and although seemingly just missing out of a play off spot on Saturday, we still need to look back and think how well we are doing to be up challenging the ex football league clubs such as Cheltenham, Grimbsy, Tranmere & Wrexham etc. In truth, we have had a disrupted season, with a change of manager part way through and a very disappointing transfer window in January, where i think the club felt if they chucked money at certain players, they would come join us, but we found out that it doesn't work like that when you are dealing with professional footballers from the higher levels. SD is learning along the way and will not make the same mistakes twice, so i'm certain he will already have weighed up what to do next season, with a view to making the team stronger, and i believe he will have "entertainment" as part of his recruitment criteria. Off the pitch, we literally couldnt ask for any more and we will all see more improvements next season, which it sounds like they will be conducive for a better match day experience all around. Personally speaking, i have probably expected too much too soon, and that is why i get very disheartened at times, but i have a feeling that next season the club will feel fresh again, so i look forward to that. In order to move forward changes need to be embraced by us fans, but we must be patient with change, we must not expect too much too soon & we shouldn't be too disappointed if we were to come up short again. FGR have been in this league for 20 years and they still havent been promoted.... IMO, no one wants L2 more than SD, so he will be feeling the same pain that us fans do, but any negative talks on here are probably going to effect SD's thinking and i think we all need to be cognisant of that, when we are posting our "seasonal reviews" over the next few weeks. People should be truthful in writing what they believe, but lets not go overboard eh.. Despite not making play offs, which we understand to have been the minimum brief at the start of the season, you can't really view this season as a failure, even if we didn't hit the targets. Our ever increasing fan base that is building along the way, should give us all cause to celebrate how quickly this club is growing & moving forward. We should all be proud to be Spitfires.

Agree with all this, but still surprised that people who post on here (it is the supporters' club website, after all) decided to leave early. Especially if the reason was feeling they weren't being entertained. If we'd got to the playoffs and then League 2 playing that way, would that have been different?
As for the season, I think the play-offs were expected. We've only narrowly failed to get there (unless we get lucky next Sat) and had that FA Cup run, which may have hindered us with the league campaign (both in terms of pitch and players/games). But we didn't get to the play-offs.
I think expectations both from fans and owner will be massive next season and it may be a pivotal season for the club's future and direction. I'm sure there will be some very carefully-considered decisions between now and August...

I also was away and not at the game Saturday but I think the fact the Manchester United v Everton FA Cup SF was on BBC at 5.15 may have meant some "floating" punters may have decided the entertainment may be better in front of TV. Hard for myself and many others to understand but I reckon part of the reason.

Brilliant post Sattsy.
We gave it a good go this season, now we have the ground improvements to come and give it another go next season. We have only been in this league for 2 seasons.
I'd rather be a spitfire than support Guisley, Bromley, Barrow, etc etc etc

I apologise if I offended anyone especially bomber - my reference to Sutton was a little out of order. I'm sure our team appreciates the away support and especially the last game so lets just get back to supporting the team on Saturday and not go because we (supposedly) have nothing to play for .
