1) we win at Woking 2) Altrincham win at Braintree (they need a win to have a chance of staying up)
^^^^^^^
at least one of the games to have a 2/+ goal margin
3) Grimsby win or draw at Tranmere
Then we will make the playoffs! Simple :0)
Not sure what that lot comes to, probably about a 33/1 shot.
TBH I think the biggest stumbling block could be us winning by a couple at Woking. Reckon we could find it really difficult to lift things after today & get the result at Woking.
Hopefully we will give it a decent go anyway to give a good finish to the season.

Clutching at straws?
In reality it looks like we've just come up short in what after all is only our second season at this level. Chris has done a fantastic job since he took over at end of September and has taken us to very edge of the play-offs. I hope he going to have a full season in charge next term.
However we had lost a third of league games we had played before he was appointed and whilst that loss rate dropped to around 20% under Chris, the damage had already been done in the first part of September when lost to Barrow (a), Gateshead (h), Chester (a) and Dover (h) - just one point banked out of a possible 15.

You take the average pts Todd has taken per game (57/33) = 1.727272727 Multiply the 1.727272727 by the 12 games RH was in charge = 20.72727273 Add 20.72727273 to 57 and Todd would still be on 77.72727273 pts Still a point short/level with Braintree if roundup. In reality there is very little difference between RH performance at the beginning of the season where fans started to call for his head and CT performance over the season.

Considering we've had two bad runs during the season, I think we've done well to get this far.
Next week, despite Woking winning a couple recently, I think we can win there. Tranmere could struggle to beat Grimsby, although they seem to be looking towards the playoffs and taking their eye off the ball at the moment. I think Braintree will be nervous. Alty's chance of stayling up is slight but they're hard to beat and won 5-0 today.
But for all three games to go our way is, I agree, pretty slim. All we can do is beat Woking and hope for the best. No pressure there. It was a case of 'see you next season' as we left the Silverlake today, and CT's post-match interview indicated that he thought our chance had probably gone.
I think expectations will be much higher next season for whoever is in charge, and whoever is in the squad.

Alty's chance of stayling up is slight but they're hard to beat and won 5-0 today. Its not about being hard to beat, they need to win, not, not lose. They havent won away since November, and only won twice in the league all season. Braintree have not lost at home since February.

Not one for 'I've been supporting the team this long etc' but in my 12 years that was my first home game since December (longest ever) and first game since Gateshead, watched about 15 mins of action. Uninspiring crap I've never watched us that flat before in my life, and as per Gateshead away post, clear out needed!!

I just wonder if nerves will get the better of Braintree, who have never been in this position before and I don't think have players who have experienced it before. I just have a feeling that Alty might dig in and snatch a late winner. Having said that, I am highly impressed with Braintree's results this season and think their manager is one to watch (or hire). Couldn't tell how good they were from their win here, we were so bad we made it easy for them.

Since doing the stats for this season Braintree and their Manager, Danny Cowley have impressed me. They have the best return of points against the top six this season...19 from 30 and should they win at home next Saturday against Altrincham they will end with a 100% record against the current bottom four teams with 8 wins. Quite how they are only fifth with those figures is a mystery, they ought to have been pushing for the title. I can only assume they have a small squad, injuries and suspensions to key players must have played a major part in this. Danny Cowley will go to a bigger club one day and one wonders if he would look our way? I suppose if we are going to have a Manager change Steve Burr has to be in the frame if we did ask permission to speak to him back in Sept/Oct which was refused, and was sacked this month with just 2 wins from 16 games, probably a good Manager but he had a poor team to work with. For me, we should be looking for a top experienced Manager who really knows his football, can command respect in the dressing room and has the ability to spot and change tactics during the game, not just at half time if needs arise so I think a very worthy name to be considered is Nigel Worthington. If press reports are to be believed he did apply last time and I take that as a massive compliment he wanted the Eastleigh job, it is a tribute to our club and the progress we are making that 'little' Eastleigh can attract such top names. I also think a top name like Nigel Worthington would also tempt top quality players to sign for Eastleigh if we went after them and that is a massive plus we could use to our advantage if we do look for a new man.

Danny Cowley would be another manager who has never managed higher & has had just 1 good season with a football club at this level. He has no experience or track record of being able to attract better players. Sure, he has done well with what he's got in a small budget, but he would be working with a big budget here & in truth he would be no different to Toddy. If we are going to make a change, then it has to be for an experienced manager who has a contacts list as long as your arm from all over the country. Not just a manager who only knows the Essex lower level footballing scene. When i heard last season how we had turned down Nigel Worthington, i thought wow you're brave Stew, but i think that's the kind of person we need now to get us to the next level. I like going for a younger man, and glad we gave Toddy a shot, but if Toddy fails to achieve the brief, then you will always point to a lack of experience on his part for that failure, so why not go for someone with that experience in the first place. Ive seen Toddy turn us into a great side who win football matches, but then we have also turned into a side that never looks like scoring, and he hasn't been able to address that, despite the striking riches he has available to him. So that's a big question mark, as well as his signings and inability to attract better players. Does SD give him another season to prove he can do it with a blank sheet of paper, or does he go with a new broom and let an experienced man build a team to win the title.

Agree, like Todd a great deal however - if we want progression to the FL, we need an experienced head to go with the experienced players we have. We have been tactically nieve too many times this season. Pegs in round holes comes to mind in far too many games.

Graham Westley is available. Has won the Conference with Stevenage and took them to League 1 the following year.

Hopefully we will give it a decent go anyway to give a good finish to the season. I bust a gut to get to the game Saturday as I had other things on. Saw it from 15 minutes in and left 15 minutes before the end. Might stir some emotions here but Saturday was pathetic. Yes I am angry. I was all set to go to Woking but if the players can't be arsed for a game like that, when a win would've put us in the play offs depending on Braintree's result, then nor can I. Eastleigh's failings this season is that regardless of the opposition, when it mattered they weren't up for it.

It was absolutely NOT the case that the players could not be arsed Saturday. They gave their all; that bunch of players did all they could to get the result they needed. They were, and are not good enough, simple as.
