Some people do not like the team's style of play at the moment, but even if you include Saturday's game we have obtained a third of our points for the season in the last 13 games and have played four of the current top six during that time.
Looking at our Conference South record I noted that it took us four seasons to reach the playoffs and nine to be promoted.

It is mathematically possible to be in the play offs but the season is over. Listening to Todd after the game you sensed that from him too. Credit to the Tranmere they were a decent team and pinched a winner. We offered virtually nothing in attack all day. Without Constable there was no threat. When Midson was withdrawn in the second half I felt we would concede possession and go on to lose. I know it has been much debated on here but Tubbs has been a dreadfully disappointing signing.Tood's January business was poor. This team are good but not promotion material. We've only played well in patches during 2016 and I don't think we have really moved on much after Hill. In particular we have not found a decent replacement for Macallister. Time for a clear out and a fresh approach. The club have moved forward hugely off the field and it was another great crowd today. The future is still very bright and I am looking forward to the summer. Our season is not 'over'. We have a big local game next weekend at Woking and need to show the lads our support. Hopefully we'll take a big crowd but I suspect those who are questioning our manager, players and the fact we (virtually) haven't made the play offs will stay at home feeling despondent and blaming Toddy and his recent signings for our 'failure'. I reiterate we have only been in this league for two seasons and it's a league notoriously difficult to get out of. We'll be there - probably not in fancy dress but to cheer the lads on. Come on Eastleigh!!

Our season is over bar a miracle. Luckily I have for family reasons and pre-arranged holidays missed Welling, Guiseley and Tranmere at home which by all accounts we have flattered to deceive and not looked like threatening enough to win. I will not be bothering with Woking as I don't want to give a dislikeable bunch any of my money and tbh unless there is a miracle from above we're just playing out a meaningless game. I will be renewing my ST of course but am hoping we can put sentiment to bed over the summer and assemble a team from manager down who can put a genuine tilt at the title together. I remember SD's words after Xmas at a fans forum "the team believe they can still put a title push together" sadly they could not.
