"Sounds a speculative punt to me."
Indeed. All punts are speculative.
The certainty is that I would gladly place a wager on it, not (of course) that it will happen - I'd guess the chances of us hitting 6 or + goals in the last 5 as around 75% whereas (presumably Mr Sattsy has it at below 50%).
Maybe Beanos drop in form is because he feels downbeat after reading all the gubbins on here!
Its true that we haven't been scoring as many as we'd like recently but that is down to lots of factors.

Given that Eastleigh dominated both games against Cheltenham (yes I was at both and they were both cracking games) I can't see where all Cheltenham's points have come from. I see Grimsby posing more of a threat if they get to league 2 than Cheltenham.

Do you seriously believe that the vast majority of Conference clubs wouldn't take JC if they could? Well if he should leave us, you just wait to see how long it takes a club to come in for him. Less than half an hour I'd wager. If we are going to get into the play offs JC will get the goals to get us there.

Yes i would agree i would have 6+ goals in 5 games as a 50% punt. As for Beano's form being effected by what he reads here, then he would lose my respect if he lets a couple of disgruntled fans effect his performances.. I think any form of criticism will no doubt P*** a player off, but he'll be smiling about it and hopefully wanting to prove us all wrong, he won't let it bother him too much. I'm sure there are clubs at this level who would gladly sign him, but they wont be top 5 clubs and i really don't believe any L2 clubs would want him. He may well have legendary status at Oxford United, but less than 15 goals every season for 6 years running, doesnt exactly make him a L2 sensation that would be the desire of any ambitious club at that level, these days. Facts are, "Most clubs at this level" could not afford his wages, so his next club choice could be pretty limited, unless he is prepared to drop his salary considerably. Anyway, i'm not going to comment on Beano anymore, because even i now feel like i'm picking on the poor fella too much... Lets hope he bangs in a couple tomorrow night.

He sure as hell won't care what's written on here, I doubt he even bothers reading all the crap on this forum. God help him if he does...but just in case he does. GO ON BEANO SHOW 'EM ALL.

Michaelefc says: He sure as hell won't care what's written on here, I doubt he even bothers reading all the crap on this forum. God help him if he does...but just in case he does. GO ON BEANO SHOW 'EM ALL.
Oh he'll know about it whether he reads it himself or not, one of the players will pick up on it. Every player in every club will have fans for and against them for whatever reason. I don't say I dislike him, I simply say he is not the centre forward we need, he does put in a shift I grant him that, but that is not my argument about the player, his job is goals and he does'nt do it enough. Look at the facts, he has scored 14 league goals this season, for a centre forward in our team, that is a poor return. Five of those goals came in the opening 6 matches in August. Since then he has scored 9 times in six games ( Doubles at Dover, Macclesfield and Kidderminister, with 1 goal at Tranmere, Forest Green and finally a goal at home to Kidderminster) One goal at home since Aug 29th. Thats the stats I am looking at, those are the facts and if he has signed for next season then frankly he's laughing all the way to the bank because its a massive mistake from the club. Anyone who believes this player will get the goals next season to mount a serious title challenge is deluded. Matt Tubbs is a quality goal scorer but he can't feed off Constable and we are not seeing what Tubbs is all about. Matt Tubbs can do a fantastic job next season with the right man alongside him, but he won't stay if Constable is signed, indeed I think you'll find most forwards would struggle with Constable as their partner. Its becoming increasing obvious that the team needs a major rebuild in the strikers department, lets build a team around Drury and Reason, find two good target men and two out and out strikers, a commanding centre half and a goalie who can kick the bloody ball properly. But I'll say it again, if Constable stays, we will remain in this league til he's gone, and frankly I don't see many teams, if any, who'd want to buy him off us out there. And finally to Michael's last comments...GO ON BEANO SHOW 'EM ALL.....I'd be delighted if he did as it means three more points in the quest for a PO spot, but it won't change my view that he is not a good fit for EFC at all. He's got his supporters at the club and I respect that, people love his work rate and commitment, but I look in the cold light of day about his scoring record, and I love EFC more than I do about a centre forward who has just 14 league goals and only one goal at home since August. If he gets a hat trick tonight, or gets the winning goal, I'll be the first to say well done, you have to give credit where its due if he earns it. I'm sure he would accept that, players know that fans will criticise, and we do it because we care, we love our club, we want to win, we want to be successful just like everybody else does in the league.

All players read the forum, make no mistake about that. Footballers have ego's and those ego's can be stroked on a football forum, so they come here for a friendly cuddle & to see what their paying public are writing about them or commenting on their latest performances etc. If they read something that knocks their ego on here, they will naturally feel let down by the fans/posters, but they will all know deep down that any criticism is, in the main, justified. Players know when they are not performing. Only they can put that right and have us singing their praises again. You could say that any criticism read on here, might just spur them on in an "i'll show you" kind of way. The very fact that pretty much every player is on FB and Twitter, shows you they are very active on social media and a football forum is another form of social media that fans of EFC use, so make no mistake, footballers look at and sometimes even use forums themselves, too..
In truth, when it comes to criticising players individually, i don't really go in for that if a player has had a bad game, but i will engage my critical eye, when quoting facts or stats, as stats are there for all to see and you can use stats as a guide to the level where certain players should be performing, particularly with goal stats and goals conceded stats. The whole footballing world uses stats today and players are now even signed on statistical data, sometimes without the clubs even seeing the player play, which i feel is riciculous, because some stats can be misleading. One of the main stats used in the Premier League these days, "distance covered", WTF does that mean or matter? You can run solidly for the full 95 mins in a game and cover more ground that any other player, but you might only touch the ball 3 times and give it away twice, so what does "distance covered" tell you? Absolutely bugger all, thats what, but the managers and clubs these days, put great faith in that kind of stat! I, like Keith, prefer to go with a goal ratio kind of stat, because 14 goals in 31 games, isnt great, its not too bad either btw, but you wont get a team winning any league in the world with a top scorer on 14 goals. So thats a stat a club really can and should, base their decisions on when lining up a strike force for the next season & even if Beano does stay (which i'm not against by the way), then i hope they see the need to get in a striker who can hit 25 goals next season to be our new no.1 striker. Beano off the bench in games could be a lethal weapon for us, but if he starts most games next season, then 14-16 goals is all we will get from our top scorer and that means we finish 6th-9th.
Come on Beano, whack in a couple tonight & have me singing your praises on Wednesday morning.

The above comment about Ross Flitney is an absolute disgrace after the performance he put in on Saturday.

Ross was MOTM Saturday and rightly so, well played by him and earned EFC a point. Having said that, his goal kicking is awful, how many times has the midfielders and forwards moaned at him this season after a poor kick....countless times to be honest. Good stopper I'll grant you, but kicking is his weakness, that's a fact.

Not saying his kicking is brilliant but the timing of your comments about getting a new goalkeeper in just doesn't make sense.

Anyway, the lads have a game tonight, instead of speculating who to sell, who's not playing well etc. Let's just support them as they try and get over the line.

I think the reported 41 away fans at Grimsby says it all. it would appear that people do not want to watch us play this "don't lose at any cost football", anymore? I would go to every away match if I could. Unfortunately being unable to work makes the cost unmanageable and my disability makes it hard to make the long journeys - they are such long days! There do seem to be a lot of northern clubs in our league at the moment too. However we'll be there will bells and whistles on (no that's not an indicator of our fancy dress!!!) this Saturday. Hopefully we bring a big noisy crowd to support the lads despite the result. They deserve our being there and our support. COYS :-)
