I guess it depends on what type of pitch it is & what sort of condition it is in, as to how much of the rubber stuff they need to use. These 2 pitches are both 3g of some description. The Timbers one (on the right) is a new surface, and the Seattle one is a few years old and has the Seattle Hand Egg team play on it as well.

I know when Fareham played away to Hamworthy United who play at the Dorset FA ground, the new turf was awful apparently and a Fareham player had to go off within 20 mins of play with some crumb in his eye.
