Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but what's happened to the top half of seating in the green stand?

So does anyone actually know when the main stand extension will be open, and whether it will be available to corporates only or the average punter?
(Hint: If your proposed response begins with 'I would assume' or 'I'm guessing that' then you don't actually know.)

Sorry to pull the thread back to the original subject, but has the club announced when the main stand extension will be open? Are all the seats already allocated to corporates or can a regular season ticket be upgraded to sit there?

I've only been attending for the last few seasons, but that was the first time I've left the ground and had to walk past away fans waiting at the exit with clear malintent. To be fair it was a small number of cretins that had probably seen Green Street a few too many times, and having experienced far worse situations at larger grounds it was frankly ridiculous. I didn't feel particularly threatened, but I can imagine that some people did.
It has to be said though, the lack of effective stewarding meant these few idiots felt able to attack at least one of our fellow supporters with what now appears to be complete impunity. Without police attendance the stewards are the only deterrent against misbehaviour, there simply wasn't enough of them to do this.
The fact that another match was taking place at the same time nearby should be of no consequence. I don't know how the club approaches their obligations in this regard, but if I contracted an organisation to steward an event I wouldn't want to hear about somewhere else down the road that might be more profitable for them. The numbers should be there and they should be capable to fulfilling their objectives, end of story. If this organisation can't cope with two events at once then the club should wish them well with their other more preferred clients and look elsewhere.
I don't envy the stewards that were there yesterday. They're all good people doing a very difficult and important job. But they just didn't stand a chance and in my view were left woefully exposed by their management.
I hope the club listens carefully to those directly affected by what happened yesterday (remember, that could've been any one of us) and takes action to ensure the same circumstances don't occur again. A more organised group of miscreants in greater numbers and the story might have been far worse.

As u say it's a pre season friendly , there hasn't been trouble before so the less time spent worrying the better. The stewards and I wd imagine a few police will be in attendance and I would have thought the usual segregation will apply. You seem very keen to close down any debate on this subject. Any particular reason for this?

Well no tony. I'm sure when match day arrangements @ the Silverlake are being organised they the crowd will be considered to consist of 2 elements, namely home fans & away fans. Anyway people have and will always have different opinions on this, that was my main point. I'm equally sure of the exact opposite, but we all have different opinions! I'd expect them to take a more holistic view on attendees and not see them in such simple, discreet terms. Especially given the unique circumstances that have been discussed on this thread.

The key thing is that we are all Eastleigh fans! Some clearly aren't though are they. There are a few people at Eastleigh who walk about with an "I can't be arsed to watch an away game so I thought I'd come down here" shirt on. We're not a non league subsidiary of saints! I really hope the Safety Advisory Group don't kick off their meetings with 'OK everyone, the key thing is that we're all Eastleigh fans!'

We're not a non league subsidiary of saints! i don't think it's that at all bomber, I think it's more a case of just loving to watch a game and also the expense of not only going away but also at home nowadays. Genuine fans of the game are very impressed at how EFC's profile had been raised and the improvements off the field. Sadly not every 'joint Eastleigh+Saints' fan comes at this from the same perspective that you do. You'll find there are plenty that fit the profile Bomber describes, and they are the problem that requires attention. It would be nice if we could just close down debates we don't like by saying 'I think this, so does everyone else, end of discussion', but it's not that simple.

Tony, not disrespectful, I love the whole thing that is happening with EFC just don't get the anti saints bit, forget the Pompey friendly etc we are all fans, ALL FANS we want the spitfires to do well. Let's all get excited about the improvements to the ground and the team as we head into 2017/18 season, coys Agreed. Please don't think I was being 'Anti-Saints'. I just think that there are many times and places to demonstrate your allegiance to a football club, but at another club's ground in a game that's nothing to do with you (even when they're playing your biggest rivals) just isn't one of them.

For the Portsmouth game, could we all please, please, PLEASE remember that we're there to support Eastleigh FC? Not another club like, oh I don't know, Southampton FC for example?
No chance, I know. Cue dozens of Saints shirts (even more than usual) and songs.
On the positive side it'll be a record gate receipt for a friendly! ££££££

Can anybody explain to me why we are being shown a building every week. Project Management 101. Regular updates to stakeholders. It's another good example of the club beginning to do things properly these days in terms of operations and governance. I'm sure the board would admit it's still not perfect in that respect, but let's at least give them some credit for going in the right direction?
